MacLeod House Guest Cottage

Very beautiful location right on the border of the Krantzkloof Nature Reserve with a gate right into the reserve which means hiking is possible directly from the property – sadly not on our visit as the reserve was closed. Pictures do not do this guest house justice, it is gorgeous both inside and out with striking views and scenery on the property. It is great for a romantic getaway (bearing in mind privacy limitations) with an lovely outside shower (there is no indoor shower option) and large bath both big enough for 2 average sized persons. Candles, lamps and powered led lights provided for loadshedding. The guest house was very clean and neat with a kitchen containing sufficient cutlery for a self-catering experience. The hosts were friendly and accommodating. 100mb fibre internet (tested using Speedtest.net).

Check if the reserve is open before planning on a hiking trip to avoid disappointment. Privacy limitations, but should be expected with a guest house right next to the main property with hosts actively checking in with you. No air-conditioning means it may be uncomfortable in summer for people sensitive to heat but open plan layout would be a hurdle to air-conditioning so it should be expected. A small fireplace is located next to the bath though. No backup power (other than internet router) during load shedding. Not wheelchair friendly with narrow driveway and steps outside and inside the guest house so would not be ideal for disabled individuals.

Such a beautiful getaway location. Everything about it was perfect. The hosts were also very warm and accommodating. Overall 10 out of 10. I am so pleased

This was probably the most outstanding place we have stayed in. It was top class. The decor, the attention to details, the location, the hosts - it was the most wonderful stay in the most amazing place in the most incredible setting and Lyn and Aiden were brilliant hosts - nothing was too much for them and they were available but unobtrusive. I could go on and on but highly recommend staying in this little piece of paradise.

Probably my favourite guest house in the whole of South Africa. It has style, fascinating architecture, trees, trees and more trees with a view down the Kloof. Unbeatable, but the best is the warm welcome from Lyn and her attention to detail in everything she does and has done to make this such a special place to stay.

It was perfect! Lyn and her husband Aidan have thought of everything. Even charging plugs in all the right places and a full blown cinema if you are into that!

Stunning location with a view of the gorge, and beautiful gardens. The hosts were available but unobtrusive and shared information on nearby activities.
