Heart of Fossgate

Two sleepless nights as the venue next door had parties on until after 2 o'clock in the morning

We arrived early into York, and we were allowed an early check in which we were so grateful for. Friendly owners, clean flat with everything provided. Bars, restaurants all close by, and York city center is just a short walk away. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for these lovely owners and they are literally a phone call and close by if you need anything! Being greeted with coffee and hot chocolate ready for making was a treat! Outdoor seating to relax on a private deck area was a great start for the day!

The air conditioner outside for the bar next door was noisy, and noise from the bar didn't stop until 12am. We didn't mind at all, but some people may not like that. They provided ear plugs on the bedside tables, so problem solved.

Such an amazing location. Really convenient and close to everything. Maria and Mike were so accommodating and let us check in early. The apartment was such a good size and the kitchen/living room was so homey. The bathroom was brilliant it was a good size with a big sink. The shower was lovely and the bath was huge. There was also a good amount of condiments and tea and coffee for us to use which was a nice touch. There was a lovely range of books and very comfortable chairs. Lots of leaflets and information booklets about York. Also, although we didn’t use it there is a lovely terrace area. Lots of mugs plates and cutlery. Lovely soft towels aswell!

Unfortunately the fan didn’t work and we visited in very warm weather which meant we were uncomfortably warm. There was also a lot of noise coming in from the bar next door, even though we wore earplugs. Sadly, there’s a smoking area directly below the bedroom window, so our bedroom smelt of smoke throughout the night. Also as it said soundproofing in the amenities we thought it would be fairly quiet, however as we were watching a film we could hear the bass-y sounding music from the restaurant below the apartment; it probably wouldn’t be a bother to people who go out in the evenings.

Location, spacious, clean

22 steps to the apartment. Very… noisy from 20.00 - early hours ( during the week , weekend will be worse ) bedroom is upper , below is bar restaurant with beer garden, that’s why they provided the ear plugs. If you’re early or light sleeper then you need to think twice before booking

Stunning location, right on the doorstep of lots of beautiful places to grab a drink or bite to eat. Possible to park up outside to drop off your bags before parking nearby (we used the shambles Q park which was just 2 streets away). The apartment was well equipped with everything needed for a short stay. The bedroom window overlooked the beer garden from the bar next door but we were getting home late (after a nightcap there too) and the slight noise of chatting before they closed didn't bother us. We'll be using this apartment again if it's available when we next visit York.

Wasn't a dislike for us but if you have bad mobility issues it's worth noting there's a stairway to get to the apartment front door.

Well located on a cute street with lots of cafe options. Place had a lot of room more than we needed ! Including a balcony. Well equipped kitchen if you needed to cook, we didn’t. The hosts were really responsive on messages and provided details of close by storage facilities

There was a bar downstairs, so on one of the nights it was a bit noisy but that finished by 12am.
