19 High Petergate - Next to York Minster

Very nice appartment, brilliant location within metres of the Minster.

Location was excellent

Trade off over the great location was the noise. We got no sleep at all on Friday as groups of people where shouting till 4am obviously coming back from nights out. Not the properties fault at all but something to be mindful of if that would upset you.

The location was excellent a little noisy but its very central so to be expected. The property had everything you needed and was cosy and quirky. The little welcome hamper was a nice touch. Stays york was brilliant at keeping you updated with check in and check out details. Also the office was a 2 minute walk away if you needed anything. It had stunning views of the minster and everything was literally on the doorstep. If I had to say anything negative it would be the shower wasn't powerful and the temperature kept changing. Also it would have been good to be able to open the windows but this wasn't possible but the 2 points are minor.

Great location, spacious and comfortable bedroom and living area, clever use of space, fantastic view of the minster. I particularly liked the chairs in the bedroom to sit and look at the view of the minster (stunning!).

This is not the fault of the apartment per se. But this is a busy road for pedestrians/drinkers and near various bars. One night someone was sick all over the doorstep to the apartment so i had to wash it off using pans of hot water, another night cans of drink were left on the doorstep, and people kept looking into the ground floor window. The bedroom is also directly opposite some accommodation. So if you are after privacy then you might want to book elsewhere. The bed/mattress was quite squishy so could do with being replaced or turned. The minster bells chime a lot, which I found very charming/pleasant but others might not (particularly 9am on a Sunday).

The welcome pack was excellent and very much appreciated.

Could have had a couple more towels.

I loved the responsiveness and consideration of the property owner upon running into some travel issues, and needing the accommodation for an additional night. The property itself was well-suited for myself as a solo traveller, as I had everything I would need within reach. I appreciated the space on the entry level, and the bathroom in the cupboard-like alcove was surprisingly spacious enough for me. The view of the Minster is stunning, and the bells pealing on Sunday were comforting.

I believe that York is having an issue with heating, and my own accommodations were negatively affected by this. I was immobilised from the cold on the first and second nights, irrespective of having the radiators on both the entry floor and the second level on the maximum setting. I made use of the mobile heater provided on the second floor to warm my fingers while I slept, but otherwise, I was frozen. The only remedy was that my sister, who lives in York, was able to drop off an electric blanket to keep me warm during my stay.
