I’m going to start this by saying I’m reporting this ‘host’ to booking.com for being incredibly unprofessional. I have been lucky enough to travel for 6 months and this lady really grinded my gears… she was possibly the worst host I have ever experienced. The host is an incredibly rude person who thinks it’s acceptable to let herself into your ‘private room’ with a master key when you’re not there to go through your things. This happened not once, not twice but three times within 24 hours. After speaking fairly decent English, when confronting her about this she decided she could not understand ??? She understood and she knew that her behaviour was completely unacceptable. I’m convinced that she actually stole some money but my girlfriend is unsure therefore we didn’t accuse. Furthermore she lied several times to us, the most petty (and I fully believe it’s because she wanted us out- not that we’d done anything to warrant this attitude- I just don’t think she liked being confronted about her mal-behaviour) being that every Sunday, the full town of Galle have a power cut to save on electricity??? Funny how the neighbours didn’t experience this. So basically from 8am in the morning this ‘person’ deemed that we merited being heated out of our room due to no a/c and turning off the wifi? Very strange and horrible lady. She also manhandled my breakfast with her horrible grubby fingers and told us to eat because it’s delicious - I’m 31 - not a kid. She needs to learn some people skills and I would highly recommend not staying here if you like to be treated with any ounce of respect. I genuinely wish I hadn’t paid.

The cleanliness and the breakfast

We had a lovely stay, it’s a beautiful room with great air con and a good mosquito net. The house is only 10 mins walk from the fort meaning you can get there very easily on foot. We had the most delicious breakfast served by the kind host - we were offered the choice between Sri Lankan or western style breakfast, and chose the Sri Lankan one and we had a great selection of options, such as hoppers (eggs) fruit, and bread with spread brought to us, with lovely fresh coffee. This was served near the balcony which had some lovely sun loungers on! Would really recommend!

Only slight issue we had was finding the property at the start, as google maps takes you to the inland revenue building. If you face away from the fort with the inland revenue on the left, then it is the next left turning off the main road! Not a big issue at all, but just so future guests are aware!

This guest house was in a great location, just 5 mins walk away from the train and bus stations and 10 mins walk to the fort. Clean and very comfortable - great air con and a quiet location. The host was friendly & helpful and we enjoyed a lovely homemade breakfast each day. Great value. The shared bathroom is only shared between 2 rooms so never an issue & right outside the room. Thoroughly recommend to others.

Very comfortable bed, with mosquito net, A/C and fan. The owner is very nice and prepares you a great breakfast. Good price-quality ratio (be aware that you need to pay with cash - there are ATMs very close to the accommodation).

The location is not obvious and not the most friendly if you're not comfortable walking alone at night. The water pressure for the shower wasn't the best in the morning (worked fine during the afternoon).
