Kekatos, Lourdas. Have stayed here before and left a really good review - because it was really good. But, how things have changed. Started off with nearly an hour delay on the flight - I can live with that, nobody`s fault. Got to Kekatos at 2pm, to find a lady cleaning our room. She said it wouldn`t be ready until 3pm - even though we were late. I asked to put the cases in the room - and we`d go down the hill for a drink, an abrupt no was the answer. Eventually got in the room just after 3pm, not a high floor as we requested but I suppose we all can`t have high floors can we?. The area is the same - just wonderful. Lovely food out in every taverna. A special mention to Maria and team in Sun Set Bar. If you want decent, comfortable sunbeds, go to Hemingway - 10 euro for 2 beds and umbrella`s. Now the room. Let`s just say it was a good job their wasn`t a fire - as when we arrived - the wiring was in the ceiling but the smoke alarm was in the cupboard next to the sink. We found that just after we nearly fell as we entered the freshly mopped tiled floor in the room - without any warning. The shower room constantly flooded - even overnight - the water was coming up through the outlet. Maybe that was why we had a mop and bucket out on our balcony? I`m not sure either what the fascination is with banging a broom against the wall constantly at 07:15 whilst sweeping up? Or the fact that everywhere was hosed down before people had left to go out - even the marble type steps that are slippy enough at the best of times. Bear in mind there were older people than us there - recipe for disaster. A wet floor sign was there though, around the corner out of the way of where you came out of your room. Again, before people had even ventured out - pre 08:30 - the upstairs was hosed down. Where did the water go? Over the edge to create massive puddles right outside the lower rooms doors. Just a heads up about the beds. The mattress basically sits in a wooden frame. If you have a dodgy back, when you sit on the edge of the bed - the mattress disappears and the edge of the frame goes straight up your spine. Be careful. Oh, and if you do watch TV - it didn`t work. It sits on top of the wardrobe :-) so you wouldn`t see anything if it did. I can honestly say the place was kept clean - not sure when the bins and bedding/towels were supposed to be done but it certainly wasn`t daily. And if you rely on WiFi - forget it. It didn`t work most of the time. Two questions I really need to answer. Would I go back to Lourdas? Yes indeed! In 6 weeks actually - it`s a stunning, peaceful place. Would I stay at Kekatos again? Not a chance!

- Eager to meet you hosts in person? Not with this place; self service only. Upon arrival, we were provided with no sense of direction on how to enter our room and waited in the scorching sun for 1 hour until another guest kindly helped. Up until this point, we still had not received any sort of communication from hosts despite messaging and calling multiple times. - Like the feeling of springs? Well you’re in luck because as soon as you touch the bed, you could immediately feel the steel spring greet your back. - Craving cool, crispy and refreshing aircon after you unpack your bags? You’ll have to wait until the second day of your stay, as the A/C is not included in the price of stay nor your first night. So, good luck my friends, it will be a rough night sleep.

Lovely apartment, great location

There was a large group there coming in rowdy at 2am and being noisy for over an hour keeping us awake each night (i had a child with me). I had thought it was no groups/ more of a quiet place as advertised. It ruined it a bit due to lack of sleep

At the top of a hill which we called Cardiac Hill as it was so steep. No signage either on the road at the bottom of the hill or anything inside the building. No taxi numbers or takeaways or emergency numbers. Wifi dreadful. Cleaning every other day, if you are lucky. Lola very pleasant. No water left when we arrived. Mini market at the bottom of the hill and we struggled carrying supplies up. Had no air con the first night as no one came to take the money and switch it on. Should be included in the price. Nice decor but stayed in much better places. Very dangerous for elderly or infirm as no rail to get into pool or up stairs.

This review is based on the Kekatos apartments in Lourdas. The location is amazing, with great views of the sea and Zakynthos in the distance from each apartment. They are basic but very clean and are equipped with everything you would need for a self catering holiday. I was a bit anxious about how my wife would cope with the walk back uphill from the idyllic beach and excellent restaurants but in fact she managed it easily in 5 minutes with a couple of breaks! Marina is the star of the show. A real workaholic, she keeps everything in top shape and was out at 7.30 most mornings sweeping and cleaning outside. Our TV didn't work at all, despite Marina's best efforts, though to be honest a week without TV was actually a refreshing change! The pool area was very quiet and peaceful, not ideal for the party animals but it suited us perfectly. The one negative was the bed. Standing one foot high and rock hard it bore no relation to the beds on the TUI website. However, on balance this was a peaceful and relaxing holiday in a pleasant, quiet apartment.

Location was ideal, fantastic views of sea & surroundings, property is on the slope above Lassi but it's only a few minutes walk uphill. Area is well kept, nice touches with planting and small sculpture pieces. Bedding and towels changed regularly. Staff friendly & helpful. Would stay again.

Nothing we didn't like, however a couple more hooks in bathroom to hang clothing while showering would be helpful.
