Alfama Shabby Chic Flat

Cozy, very clean, had a lot of utensils and it was a very good location

The neighbourhood had some great restaurants, bars and cafes. Nice and central.

Bathroom, very tatty although clean, desperately needs an update.

Perfect location to exploer city on foot

No wi-fi and TV. Lack of cleanliness.

Booking has gotten really awful with its offerings and this was the last place I stayed before I decided to never use Booking ever again.

They charge a 65 EUR cleaning fee and as every other review has mentioned, they didn’t clean at all. Gross hairs and lint built up around the corners or the floors. The bathroom doesn’t have ventilation and condenses sewer methane through the entire apartment. The back bedroom is as they all mention, musty and moldy; the apartment needs to be condemned as it is a safety concern staying here. The rate I paid vs what I stayed in was the most expensive mistake I’ve ever made. Both Booking and the owner should be ashamed of what they are offering. Stay anywhere else but here.

The location is nice and central, and walking distance to plenty of interesting places, tuk tuk drivers (various locations) and the 28 tram route. The kitchen is a good size, with a full size fridge and various appliances.

The place smelled very musty and there was mould on the wall in the back bedroom that my parents were staying in, they admitted they felt very uncomfortable sleeping in there. Unfortunately there is no safe way to leave windows open to get airflow to the unit while you're out or asleep, so we only really had a few hours in the morning and night to open them all for fresh air. I wish the host would add some security fly screen to the back bedroom window at the very least. I understand this may be common in old buildings but when there are paying guests, the standard needs to be raised. Unfortunately the street is a bit inaccessible to vehicles and most of our ride share drivers wouldn't drive along it, so we often were dropped on another street nearby and had to walk (hard to do with stairs and suitcases).

The house was lovely! Well equipped and perfect for families. We stayed with three children under 5 and it was great for us Plenty of space and lovely bedding. Kitchen was great too. We were able to drop our bags off early which was great. Communication was fantastic and everything went smoothly.
