Galaxy Apartments Lucerne

The location was good and heating was good

Sofa, kitchen floor was broken, bathroom tap had not enough water pressure

On arrival, you wonder what have you done?? The Appartments are in a back street- not a glamorous, back street. At the train station we were tired and should have ordered an uber but jumped in a taxi (CHF 20 for a 6 min ride😳!!) As mentioned you have to phone as you cannot gain entry to the building ( it seems Galaxy Appts have rental units in two buildings next to each other) we were in No 15, appt Delta 1- the other building street address is 13. We were grateful to be able to drop off our luggage with a housekeeper. Note, there is no access to the buildings you must contact via Mbl or WhatsApp!! Later when the room was ready ( we were allowed early access), we called a lovely young lady who showed us in and to the apartment. As mentioned previously there are supermarkets within 50mtrs, which you will need immediately as only a few coffee pods & 1 tea bag supplied( no milk). - 5-10 minute walk to the river and bridges. - Bus stops minutes away for both directions. - Both buildings have lifts, our lift was directly outside our door. - We found the unit clean, we always redo with disinfectant wipes on arrival, to be sure, but it was very clean. - We found the double bed too soft for our preference, a thin sprung mattress, and the pillows too soft, another pillow or two wouldn’t go a miss. - The sofa bed, it wasn’t very comfortable to sit on ( they rarely are!!)is Queen sized and if you were using it for a third person. It would take up the entire unit and require rearranging furniture to get to the kitchen. - Bring your own power board as there’s only 1 plug socket & one by the bed that is not secure and I wouldn’t risk using. - bring ear plugs if a light sleeper… the acoustics of the street make it so you hear the tiniest sound, same goes for the building stairwell. - Powerful shower, step into bath to use. It reads like I’m moaning, I’m not it’s my observations, and what I look for in reviews. It had all we needed, for our few nights.

The host met us at the apartment address promptly when we arrived.

We arrived at 1 pm, and were offered to store our luggage, which is a nice offer. It seemed like the apartment was open and available, but he would not let us in until the official check-in time of 2 pm, unless we paid 30 CHF. He didn't even offer to help my 75 y.o. mom with bags. When we came back in the evening, then he offered to grab a bag and help, I guess we are not considered guests until the official check-in time. He also let us know that they offer Lucerne card, which offers free public transportation and other perks, but we already spent a day in the city, and we were only staying for 2 days, so it was disappointing to learn that we could have used it that day.

Large spacious 2 bedroom apartment chosen. Proper sitting room with balcony. About 10 mins from station. Good value. Lift to all floors except for a few steps to our apartment. Quiet area, except for construction site close by. Read on.

No frills basic facilites and lacking in some areas in our opinion. Poor centre light in kitchen, no pelmet lighting. Freezer on counter top takes up room and didn’t freeze. Odd little steps at all doors. Watch your toes. Bathroom had noisy fan and only worked if light was on. Bath was narrow and not flat so without grab rails was difficult to enter and exit. Easy to fall if not careful. Controls were with lowdown mixer tap which again didn’t help particularly if you have mobility back issues. shower riser was broken, though replaced with magnetic unit alongside. Duvets were too small. Narrow and really short. They only reached my shoulders from floor when standing. Used 6 other hotels/apartment on Swiss trip and all others were normal size. Was woken up at 7am with hotel shaking and loud crashing and banging. Not told there was construction site behind. Second morning better but it would have been nice to be made aware. We had side balcony.

Host was exceptionally helpful and friendly

the room is quite small for 3 adults - but acceptable. There is no regular oven - but it does have a countertop stove and microwave.

Gute Lage. Geräumige Wohnung und nettes Personal.

Leider entsprach der Aufenthalt nicht ganz unseren Erwartungen, da die Wohnung einige Mängel aufwies. Die Kaffeemaschine und der Fernseher waren leider nicht funktionsfähig, und der Esstisch war sehr instabil. Auch optisch gab es durch abblätternden Lack einige Abnutzungserscheinungen. ​Zudem war das Haus sehr hellhörig, was die Privatsphäre etwas einschränkte. Ein kleiner Kritikpunkt zum Service: Es wurde kein Abtrocknungstuch bereitgestellt, was schwierig ist, da laut Hausregel bei nicht erledigtem Abwasch Gebühren anfallen. Mit ein wenig mehr Liebe zum Detail und funktionierender Technik wäre die Unterkunft deutlich attraktiver. Au und die Bettdecke ist viel zu kurz! Ich habe mit meinen 1.87 nicht den ganzen Körper zudecken können. ​
