Charming Apartment in Alfama

Very charming in a great location.

Lots of street noise in the smaller bedroom at the front. Difficult to sleep. A fan in the bathroom for steam would also be great.

Great location from which to explore the city. Based in the old town but close to the sea front too Great communication with property. Questions answered promptly both before and during our trip. Although we didn’t use it, the kitchen was well equipped and it’s a spacious enough Appartment for four to eat in and socialise.

Nothing we didn’t like personally But this property is not for those looking for peace and tranquillity. Sound of the neighbourhood bounces around narrow streets making this a vibrant place to stay. Soundproofing is excellent but it was Nov and we didn’t need windows open. It’s a lovely old building but that means you hear your neighbours above you. We were ok with this as were mostly out and noise was fleeting (neighbours getting home and going to bed so short lived)

We booked in Alfama district to be infused with Fado culture ........... and that was what we got. Traditional old Portugal/Lisbon was all around us without the touristic embelishments of the other districts.

We had problems finding the exact location of the apartment, via Google Maps, which pointed us to a wrong location. However, the exact address, which was issued with final check-in details, allowed us to finally locate the apartment. The facade of the building was rather disappointing. This was mostly made up upon entry into the apartment itself. However, there is little outside view to shout about. Would I have picked a different unit? Likely, but lose the "charm" of old Lisbon. The information suggested "private bathroom", which I assumed meant one bathroom for each room. Four of us had to share just one bathroom.

This apartment was so spacious and beautifully decorated. We felt at ease from the moment we checked in. The beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was modern with good water pressure. It was conveniently located in a lovely area. The kitchen was equipped with everything you could need for a short/long stay. We would 100% return to this apartment in a heartbeat. Great place to rest inbetween sightseeing!

My only recommendation is to place another long mirror in the twin room. This would make it more comfortable for travellers to get ready 😊

Although apartment was in a quiet street it is like many of these streets used as a cut through so a bit noisy at night. Had to sleep with windows closed. Rubbish bins very nearby and bin men come very early. Both issues typical of tourist areas so should not reflect on the apartment itself. Instructions to work appliances, comments book and mirror in bedroom two would have been good.

Great central location. Very clean. Nice white towels and sheets and very well equipped apartment. Loved the old wooden shutters which kept the apartment cool.

Two twin beds weren’t so comfy but fine for our 9 year old.

We arrived early and wanted to leave our bags in the room. It was organised for us by speaking with someone on the phone. The apartment was in walking distance to great food, the waterfront and the commercial district and the train station to Porto (or next destination). It suited our needs - no complaints.

The property didn't have a washing machine which we usually look for in an airbnb but it did have a line outside so we hand washed our clothes - no drama. The first night there was a festival in the town so the whole of Alfama was noisy (but fun). The apartment is also quite a distance from the main centre of Lisbon which may be a problem for some but not for us.

Very nicely and personally furnished. Liked the slippers, nice touch. Double bed was very comfortable.

Very noisy but to be expected as it’s right in the centre of the old town. There was a musty smell which we couldn’t get rid of.

Could do with another air con unit, just a small thing!
