Best place to see the Alfama area

It's on one side of the Alfama area. There is street noise at night. You must sleep with the windows closed. Bed is uncomfortable. The moment you make a reservation, you will receive numerous text messages and e-mails from the staff every day. A lot of mail makes customers uncomfortable.

Location; comfy beds; clean.

No air conditioning. Hosts weren't very accommodating. Seems like they just send out generic emails and messages for all their different properties. No personal touch whatsoever.

"There is nothing charming about being met with the overpowering stench of raw sewage."

Fantastic location.

The stench of sewage, which we endured for the four days of our stay. It is not good enough for the management to say that it is not their fault, and that there is nothing they can do about it.

"Unsatisfactory to start but a lovely place to stay."

A lovely, very spacious and convenient apartment, great for transport

Having arranged to be in at 4pm on arriving the beds had not been made and dirty towels had been left in the sitting room. Contacted owner who suggested that our arrival time was 6, it wasn’t! All remedied but we had to leave the apartment for 2 hours
