Oxfordshire Living - The Tolkien Apartment - Oxford

Lovely apartment close to city centre. Lovely view from the balcony. Spotless clean. Good kitchen facitilities. Convenient to walk from the train station as well. Bathroom great. Spotless bath and shower.

We stayed on Friday and Saturday nights so the noise from the Wetherspoons pub underneath was a lot. It didn't affect our sleep as obviously it all died down before midnight generally. We did get accosted twice by drunks in the bar as we were coming in and out of the building - nothing the apartment owner can change about this but just to be aware. I was travelling alone with a child and he found it a little daunting. Would still stay here again though as the apartment was great and so well situated.

Very clean. Loverly kitchen with everything you need including dust washing tablets and clothes detergent. Comfy beds.

I was aware of the noise from the pub from earlier reviews but it didn’t bother us.

Great location right near the castle and train station. Lovely and warm yet spacious. Our host Vanessa was very responsive and attentive. We really enjoyed our stay here!

Above a Wetherspoon so is noisy and the outer courtyard is lit up all night. Would recommend earbuds and an eye mask if you’re a light sleeper.

It was a lovely, central location. Easy to get around Oxford walking. The apartment was nice, clean and spacious - surprisingly quiet with the exception of a few hours on Friday night - with a lovely view, nice residents, and a postman always in a good mood. Right downstairs is the Swan and Castle, which opens early and closes late for easy food options throughout the day. There's also a shopping centre around the corner with loads more options.

There were only two radiators and it was minus temperatures outside so I was still pretty cold even with the heating on as high as I could get it...

Vanessa was very helpful and even sorted a late checkout for us, the location is excellent and lovely apartment with evetryhing we needed.

Liked everything abput our stay, will definitely stay again if visiting Oxford again

This property offers tremendous value for the money. the unit itself is excellent -- one of the best we have seen -- and the location is ideal, near to shopping, tourist attractions, and public transportation.

The unit is located above a restaurant and the noise can be significant when the patrons sit outside. That said, it was only noisy in the evening up to about midnight, so manageable. Otherwise, no concerns,

The apartment has an amazing location, it’s super clean, had all the facilities we need, good shower and comfortable bed.

It can be a bit noisy due to a bar/ restaurant downstairs specifically weekends.

The location is very near a large mall and grocery store. You can easily walk to all of the Oxford colleges and historic or tourist areas. The flat is quite spacious and nicely designed. The view out of the window is of the old Oxford Castle, and the building feels quite safe with the coded entry and keys for the flat.

It is directly above a lively restaurant and bar that can get quite loud at night. The closed windows helped, as did earplugs. Although the description states toiletries are included, the sample bottles will only last one day (if there are two people), and only two rolls of toilet paper are included; the expectation per the host is these as a 'starter' with the understanding that patrons will buy more at the local market. This was something new to me (and I travel quite a bit) - although not unreasonable :-)
