Chaoyang Joy City Hardcover Apartment

The apartment is well located to visit everything and subway is convenient.The room was clean and big enough for 4of us.Most of the staff were really pleasant and helpful.

The elevator is a little slow

Alright location.

It was very dirty, and as you can see in the pictures it is nothing as advertised. Stairway was almost falling off, was shit and flies in the bathroom, sinks were dirty.

The apartment has two floors, three beds, and a large sofa. It is perfect for large groups with four or more members. The location is perfect. It is next to the QingNianLu subway station and the Chaoyang Joy City shopping mall, which was rated as one of the top five best shopping centers in Beijing. So, we had everything we needed within walking distance. There are quite a few good restaurants and shopping choices nearby. We even walked to a Lotus Supermarket (about 1.5 km from the apartment). It is very easy to get to the apartment with the elevator. We used the subway to access the most famous sightseeing places in Beijing, such as the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, etc. It is so convenient to walk 100 meters from our apartment and then jump on the subway at a fairly cheap price (it costs 0.5 Euros per person to travel to the Forbidden City, and kids under 130cm are free). We ordered most of our breakfast and dinners using the MeiTuan App. The deliveries are as quick as within 30 mins. Actually, the delivery price is so low that we can even order our grocery stuff to be sent to the door. We once ordered a few bottles of Coke and Sprite one night from the Tianmao App, and the delivery arrived very early by our door the next morning.

We initially thought the apartment had several rooms, but we later discovered it was a big two-floor hall. So, there are a few of us sleeping upstairs, but we can still hear the rest down under. The bathroom and washing machine facilities are functioning but certainly can be improved. The kitchen is clean but lacking equipment and tools. We decided to order deliveries instead of cooking our food. In fact, this turned out to be a wise choice for us, considering the deflation and cheap delivery costs.

We came to Beijing very much looking forward to explore the sites and history the city has to offer. With this in my mind, this apartment provided a good base with transport links like the metro close by. It was also convenient in terms of shopping, with food courts and a large shopping centre with a supermarket within walking distance. However, that's for the positives. Unfortunately, as we entered the flat on the first day, there was no cold water in the kitchen tap which the host quickly remedied by sending us a 12 L bottle of water. Once this bottle of water was used up we had no cold water left and thus no cold water to boil for drinking water as the landlord did not offer to fix the tap during our stay there. In addition, we came into the apartment to a pool of rancid water which had overflowed from watering the plants, resulting in an unsavoury smell. Furthermore, the cleanliness of the place was not up to standards befitting of any apartment which I have stayed in, whether in America, Europe or Asia. The towels smelt, there was grouting in the bathroom and the downstairs toilet stunk of sewage. Unfortunately, the host also explained to us that the electricity cut out a few times due to safety measures, meaning we weren't able to turn on the air conditioning for at least an hour on a day where temperatures exceeded 35°C outside. Additionally, this meant our food in the fridge also went off as well as slabs of frozen meat and old food left by previous guests (as has been mentioned in previous reviews). That condiments are left behind and reused is something to be expected from apartments but perishable goods that have been kept for no one knows how long I have never seen before. Luckily, after politely asking the host to bring back our electricity supply a few times, the electricity came back on and miraculously the electricity supply was safe again.

Excellent choice of apartment. Spacious. Host very kind and supportive. Wish we could stay longer

A bit far from center,45 min by metro. But near to Metro,500m.
