[PORTOFINO] appartamento vista mare con piscina

The property is listed in the title as "PORTOFINO" but it is not particularly close to portofino. Taxi's will cost £75 each way, or you can reach portofino by walking and public transport within about 40 minutes. I felt the title is mis-leading. The host doesn't allow you to drop your bags any sooner than check-in unlike most others. And we didn't get prompt responses when we asked if dropping bags was a possibility. We specifically booked this property for the pool, and the washing machine. The pool isn't very nice - it is dated and not very clean. The host didn't help with the washing machine when we asked but on googling the instructions to understand the programme numbers, we found the washing machine didn't work. This meant that our clothes were soacking wet and impossible to dry on our one night stay. On raising this with the host, as well as giving general feedback about the accomodation, we were sent abusive and threatening messages. At this point, we realised that there wasn't a lock on the door, other than the key code - which is obviously known by the host. With no guarantee of our security, no help from Booking.com, we were forced to vacate the property at midnight and check in to another hotel. We had to wake up our sleeping four and seven year old to do this. Ironically, the following day, the host sent us a message asking us for feedback about the property. This aside, the apartment is dated with many scuffs. It was generally clean, but there was a towel left in the bathroom with what looked like feaces on it. The airconditioning in the bedroom is good, but it's not very good in the living room (with sofa bed). The building in which the apartment is located appeared to be a former hotel - it isn't very well maintained and is rather dark.

Super view and only 7-8 minutes’ walk from Rapallo centre. We particularly appreciated the parking spaces and the well equipped flat, especially the air conditioning to have to relief from the heatwave while we were there. The swimming pool was a nice 29C and the kids loved the small diving board. Easy check-in and excellent explanation on how to access the flat.

It would’ve been nice to have towels for the pool (we didn’t want to risk getting the nice white towels dirty), also good to know that the pool is very deep, minimum 1m90, except for a small area for young children. We also received an unusually large number of emails and messages from the flat servicing company before and during our stay, not really a problem as such but a little taxing to deal with when we were staying in multiple places for our road trip. That said, it was nice of the flat owner to personally check with us that everything was ok.

Outstanding view. Really unreal, indescribable, amazing view from the balcony. We also made good use of the aircon as the heat was unreal, too. Comfy apartment, great location, facilities.

We had to walk up that hill every evening in that heat. But the view compensated for everything.
