Apartamentos Basalto

It was very close to the center/port. Walking distance from the beach. João was very helpful with bringing our luggage to the room and giving us tips on walking trails, he even gave us a ride there. His cheerful and welcoming attitude rightened up our stay.

Very comfortable, supermarket and restaurants at walking distance.

Would have been nice to find some staple food items as we arrived late at the apartment and shops were closed. Also there was no shampoo or shower gel.

João was an amazing host, always available whenever you needed it. Location is perfect, right next to town but not directly in it so the street is quiet. Apartment is very spacious and nice. Overall, we had a great time!

Great location and nice apartment. Patricia met us at the apartment to get the keys and they have a key drop for when you leave.

Centrally located. Just a short walk to the harbour and shops. Free parking behind the building. Very friendly host. The terrace on the roof is a big bonus; you've got a nice view over the town, the sea and all the way to Faial. Excellent for sunset while drinking a glass of excellent Pico wine! We rented a car at the airport and visited Pico mountain (make sure you book in advance, like a year before during summer holiday, because we couldn't climb), Museu do Vinho da Ilha do Pico and Arcos Vulcânicos.

The apartment exceeded our expectation. We had apartment number 5 which was on the top floor of the building. It had nice views accross the town of Madalena and Fajal island. Further we enjoyed the roof terrace which is shared with the other appartments but we usually had it to ourselves. Natural swimming pools and supermarket were on walking distance (~600m flat). Joao was an excellent host who explained passionately about his island and his view of tourism development.

The kitchen had the basics but nothing more then that. It needed some improvising during cooking with limited number of pans and tools but we managed.

The location was excellent 400 meters from the heart of Madalena and the Festa de Madalena. It was very clean and the owner and staff was excellent going out of the way to may our stay a great. The owner even volunteered to pick us as the Ferry and take us back after our stay. When we called he came within 10’ to do whatever service for us was needed.

The unit lacked air conditioning and would get hot if closed up but the breezes took care of the issue within a couple minutes
