Struthers Apartment by National Trust Scotland

Situated inside a beautiful historic building on the Royal mile. Very central location to everything.

Inside, the carpets were badly stained going up the stairs and felt generally unclean in the bedrooms. There’s was only one mug, plate, bowl, glass for 4 people so you had to keep washing them up if you used more than one a day. The shower didn’t drain very well, especially if all 4 of us used it in the morning. I did contact them to raise these points and they did respond straight away supplying us with a plunger and apologising about the state of the carpets.

Alles war hervorragend. Im Land der Teetrinker wäre eine Kaffee / Nespresso Maschine ein schöner zusätzlicher Luxus.

Excellent location right on the Royal Mile, and a very unique place to stay. Very close to Edinburgh castle and so many good restaurants and shops.

One of the radiators was on for some reason --perhaps to knock off the chill at night--but the weather was warm and there was no need for it. My texts went unanswered, but there were fans in the rooms.

It was an awesome location and being in this historic building was amazing.

Communication with the hosts could have been better.

The apartment itself was lovely. Very clean and comfortable. Loved the historic aspects of it. Getting the codes to get into the building was confusing but the staff was very helpful.

Getting up into the apartment with luggage was incredibly difficult. There is a very narrow staircase from the sidewalk to the door, and then 4 flights of a VERY narrow spiral staircase to get to the 4th floor apartment. The other floors are part of a museum and sometimes there were other people on the stairs. This is only for the very able bodied with very small bags. We are fit, but we had medium size suitcases and it was close to impossible to navigate the stairs. The other issue was that there is construction on the street below that starts at 7 am.

Best central location very close to Edinburgh Castle right on the Royal Mile. Comfy historical apartment. 2 single beds and a queen bed. Fully equipped kitchenette. Free scoop of ice cream at the shoppe downstairs. The staff is friendly and helpful. A bit pricey, but sleeps up to 4 people. You will love this location for touring the Royal mile. Uber pickup spot is the Deacon Brodie’s Tavern at Lawnmarket X Bank Street.

It is a penthouse. So you have to walk up 5 flights of a steep spiral stone staircase. No elevator.
