Papillon, Southwold - A Modern Flat with Balcony

Lovely well equipped flat in a prime location for shops, coffee shops and a short walk to the beach. Well thought out and comfortable. Lovely personal touches such as a coffee machine with pods and milk.

Breakfast was not provided. The location was very central and good for reaching shops and High St. The flat was very well equipped with High quality oven, hob, dishwasher and washing machine (Miele). Also Panasonic TV and microwave. Excellent cooking utensils and china etc. (scales needed). Nice quality bed linens and very good towels. The sofa was very comfortable.

Awkward access up narrow, steep staircase could be a problem for some. Bathroom was very tight indeed! The heated towel rail was positioned dangerously close to loo. The shower itself was extraordinarily narrow and made turning almost impossible. Eating in at the Bar not very comfortable. What could be changed was the BED. Putting a topper onto a poor quality or overused mattress (probably both in this case) does NOT make it acceptable at the prices charged.

The location was exceptional, in the centre of town and ideal for retail and hospitality outlets.

The location is spot on, you would think that it would be noisy as on the high street, but no noise or smells from the street. The local shops are great, the beer is good and parking outside although limited to 30mins is enough time to unpack and it is only a short walk to the common with all the free parking.

The map of the location is off showing the wrong side of the street, the property name is not shown on maps, the building nr is 70a would be easy to find by that, rather than Papillion which no local recognises. Steep steps to get up to the flat above Tiptree.

Good location just off the High Street and close to the beach. Amenities were as expected. The rooms were adequate for two people. it was cold during our stay but the room radiators are very efficient and warning up quickly.

We felt that the bed is very uncomfortable as is the settee in the lounge (the only available seating). We book apartments so have somewhere convenient to return to during the day if the weather is bad and during the evening. Unfortunately there is loud music coming from somewhere adjacent (possibly the cafe underneath) literally all day until around 6pm. On arrival there was no hot water in the kitchen and the bathroom radiator didn't work so nowhere to dry towels. Contacted the office and they said they would get someone out but in the meantime boil kettles for the water and use the tumble dryer. Reasonable alternatives for short periods but not really the point. No one turned up to look at either issues. The shower drain was blocked and would flood the bathroom unless you kept turning it off for a few minutes to let it slowly drain. I took the outlet apart and unblocked it myself as I figured nobody would come till after we left and going without a shower for the entirety of the stay was not an option.

A welcome would have been nice. Not just a bottle of mulled wine in March! The bed and the pillows could have been more comfortable

central location and boutique flat, well equipped and comfortable - I wish I could have stayed longer!
