Idiakez - Basque Stay

The location and the layout of this apartment. There are two bedrooms which suits our requirement.

The toilet seat was loose. One of the lights in the second bedroom was hanging from its fitting. The beds are too firm for our liking. The cloth drying rack is not working properly.

Location

Basque stay did not send the instructions on how to collect the keys. On Bookings.com the instructions were that the keys would be collected at the apartment. We arrived within our estimated hour and no-one was there. We rang the 24 hour service line and no-one answered. We had to book into another hotel. 2 hours later we recieved a text from Basque Stay telling us we had been sent an email the day before with the details of how to collect the keys. This was not true. We had recieved 2 emails from them detailing that they had collected the prepayment as agreed, but no email with the instructions of where and how to collect the keys. I requested via text for them to resend me the email. They did not. They obviously then realised that they had not sent me an email and proceeded to text me the instructions. Not good!

The apartment itself is roomy and nice. Two bedrooms and one bath. The large bed is very low, so keep that in mind, the second bed is a bit shaky. There are firm, medium and soft pillow...good selection of them. The apartment is in the back of the building, which makes it quiet from street noise. It's three blocks from the beginning of the Old town, so easy to get to.

The business office where you need to get the keys is about 15 min walk from the train/bus station, so it's a hassle to have to go there first to then go back 10-12 minutes to the apartment in the Centro area to check in. The neighbor across the way has dogs that sometimes bark during the day, so that's a bit annoying. You have to take your own trash away the day you check out. The WiFi password is 20 characters long alphanumeric and Caps and lower case. What a hassle. It would be easy to get an IT person to change to something more user friendly.

The location was wonderful! So close to the train station, old town, beaches, cafes and restaurants. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. The kitchen was well equipped and we were able to do laundry during our stay.

The beds were a bit low to the floor for us. My husband has bad knees and it was hard for him to get out of the bed. We didn’t have hot water for showers the first day. We communicated with the office on how to fix it. We had to keep an eye out and reset it several times.

A very clean and modern apartment in a central location 5 mins walk to the beach and the old town and Centro. Communication from the managing agent was good.

Key collection, whilst easy, was a 15 minute walk from the apartment so a little inconvenient after a day travelling. Lacking in the little touches that one would expect for the price - bath gels, basic condiments and the like.

Great location in San Sebastian, close to Playa de la Concha and Casco Viejo. Plenty of confort, a fantastic bed and good facilities in the apartment. I recommend it.

Only little details. We asked for a crib and we did not get it. The pick up location of the keys is some minutes away.
