"We have stayed there before and will stay again as we travel between the coast and Johannesburg."

8.0

Wyford Farm is right in middle between Durban and Johannesburg so is a great place to stay. There are a few cottages on a working farm, all of them well-appointed and comfortable. There are beautiful views and a peaceful atmosphere. The property is pet friendly so a great place to stay if you are travelling with a dog. It is easy to access the property, and the owner is very clear where the keys are kept to gain access to the cottage that has been assigned to you.

The kitchenette needs a little bit of maintenance. The stove/oven has to be lifted onto the counter to use but once it is up it was perfectly easy to boil some eggs for breakfast. The cottage we stayed in was not fenced but the owner explained it and we decided that it was still okay to bring the dog. And all was fine.

Beautiful surroundings.

From the description one would expect a wonderful stay on a farm. The scenery was beautiful, but the accommodation not so much. To mention but a few: The fridge cannot close properly so it is not working as intended, the entire lounge was covered in bat droppings and you could not leave anything open as the bats are living in the roof, the geyser is installed in the upper bedroom keeping you awake with the constant noise, the electric fittings was definitely not approved by a qualified electrician and to top it all the power was off for most of our stay. Places like this give farms a bad name; staying on a farm should not mean filthy.

A beautiful farm, and an absolute delight! The setting is peaceful and picturesque and fresh country air. The cottage itself was spotless, cosy and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Check-in was incredibly easy and stress-free. Great spot for a stop over or break in driving !

Only real improvement would be to extend WIFI to the cottage, especially with the limited DSTV. Would be great to be able to watch something, like the rugby, in the evening.

"A pleasant and enjoyable stay in a wonderful setting."

Wyford is in a wonderful situation and well appointed facility although a little rustic. Our pet dog was very happy socialising with the farm dogs and enjoyed the space. A larger freezer would be ideal. Being able to fish in the dams was a bonus. We enjoyed our visit.

The patio furniture and facilities could improve.
