Kandelaars Cottage

Lovely farm location. Quietness, mountain, nature and ostriches. Elmarie is an excellent hostess and spoiled us with fresh flowers, wine and a homebaked bread. She went the extra mile to organise us a fan for the one room. The furniture, bedding and pillows were all of good taste and quality.

Lots of hungry mosquitos! But they seem to be everywhere in Oudtshoorn now.

It is a marvelous cottage. Nice seating outside. We so much enjoyed the treats (bread and wine) and the lovely flower bouquets. For foreigners, this is what we think about South Africa's countryside. The trees in front with the birds nests, the crickets in the evening—just everything is there to give this special feeling of the days bygone.

Loved the finer touches: fresh home-baked bread on the table, a bottle og good Chenin Blanc and fresh roses in every room.

The bed felt like sleeping in a dry cloud, and we especially appreciated the small details like the fresh flowers in several of the rooms, the wine and loaf of fresh bread in the kitchen, the basket of blankets for when it's cold, and piles of extra towels. It is really beautifully and tastefully decorated, and feels homey and comfortable. I would have loved to stay longer.

Nothing we didn't like, it was wonderful.

Received such an amazing and insightful tour of the farm and how the ostrich chicks are raised by the farmer.
