Skeldale House 'All Creatures Great & Small' Luxury Apartments & Studios in Askrigg, Yorkshire Dales

Es handelt sich um das Skeldale House der alten Serie "Der Doktor und das liebe Vieh". Insofern war es für uns ein Muss, denn das war unser Reisemotto. Sehr liebevoll eingerichtetes Apartment (Herriot-Suite). Sauber, gepflegt. Regionaler Willkommensgruß mit Keksen und Milch in der Küche. Auch die ausliegenden Bücher im Zimmer haben uns die Zeit verschönt. Zum Personal können wir nichts sagen, da wir niemanden gesehen haben. Der kleine Laden nebenan hat uns gut gefallen, hier war man sehr freundlich und wir bekamen alles, was wir benötigten. Leider macht der Bäcker gegenüber erst um 10 Uhr auf, das war für uns zum Frühstücken zu spät, denn wir wollten unsere Zeit gut nutzen. Und am Abend noch auf ein Drovers ins Drovers, das war sehr nett!!! Es ist übrigens kein Problem, wenn man dort keinen Tisch zum Essen bekommt, das Pub reichte uns völlig und zum Essen gibt es auch gute andere nahegelegene Möglichkeiten. Wir hatten jedenfalls sehr viel Freude! Die Menschen, die Landschaften - hier scheint ein bisschen die Zeit stehen geblieben zu sein. Uns und unserem Hund hat es hier einfach nur gut gefallen und wir konnten die schöne Landschaft mit ausgedehnten Spaziergängen genießen.

Tatsächlich ist der Schlüssel nicht einfach zu handhaben, da man zwei relativ ähnliche Schlüssel an einem Bund hat. Und die Haustür stand immer mal wieder offen, da manche Gäste mit der etwas ungewohnten Schließtechnik Probleme hatten. Die Parkmöglichkeiten waren zum Teil sehr eingeschränkt, aber irgendwann und irgendwie hat es dann doch immer in der Nähe geklappt. Es war eine Veranstaltung im Ort und dadurch standen nicht so viele Parkplätze zur Verfügung.

The key box was a little difficult it felt like a challenge to get the key.

Generous provision of complimentary tea bags and coffee, even a packet of good biscuits! Bed: comfortable. The Austin Suite was very well equipped, with everything in excellent condition. Heating was always available & simple to use. Security: the village felt a safe place to be, so the open hallway did not present the threat that it would in so much of 'modern' England. Excellent cafe & cake shop across the road and plenty of places to get dinner or a good bar meal.

Table: round, awkward & too small. Chairs: suitable for sitting at table, but not for lounging, nor for watching TV. Noise from a fan (not in the room but possibly an outside wall) was not loud, but it 'cycled' all night ie. one minute on, four minutes off, which we could not get used to. The main room is both living and bedroom. Dark wall decor was stylish but too dark for daytime use: more powerful ceiling lighting would help. The studio was stunning with a wonderful view from the window and a query was promptly dealt with. There were 4 in our party having booked 2 separate studio's, we were all agreed it was an excellent location and we were all more than pleased with the studio's. We definitely intend to go again.

Were was nothing to dislike but to fill the box found the kitchen workspace a tad tight though it was a studio and it was manageable.
