Serene Villa Hiriketiya

The property was nice and as described. The team were very friendly and very helpful and the location was good, just up a steep hill which after a week gets a bit tiresome but it’s a small price to pay.

We picked the 1 bed apartment room for the privacy and view but we’re not told beforehand that there was construction going on for the property directly outside of our room, so the privacy element was basically gone from 8am to 6pm rendering the balcony useless. There is a pretty bad ant infestation problem in the room, even after leaving some open food sealed up in my backpack, a few hours later it’s covered in ants. I wouldn’t say for the extra price it’s worth staying in that room, there is likely much better value staying in another.

Serene Villa is such a lovely place to stay. Swarna and her team really looked after us for our 5 night stay. The breakfast buffet was really good with lovely omelettes and eggs available too. The coffee is a small extra charge but well worth it as it was delicious. We stayed in two rooms with our teenage daughters on the ground floor, and they were really spacious with extras like a fridge, kettle, hairdryer. The gym is limited but I used the spin bike each day which was all I needed. The beach is only about 150m away. This is down a steep hill but was good exercise for us. Lots of restaurants on the doorstep in both directions. The pool was smaller than we thought but was perfect for a dip to cool off after a hot day. Thank you Swarna and the Serene Villas team for making our stay in Hiriketiya so memorable.

Beautiful room and stunning shower. The room had a deck overlooking the jungle. Super clean and very comfortable bed. Delicious breakfast and helpful staff. The pool was refreshing and very clean.

The villa was easy to find and a very convenient location to the beach, bars and restaurants around! Everything was clean and comfortable. The staff were really helpful and friendly they did an amazing job and were quick to respond. Hoping to book again!

Everything was perfect except for the breakfast, not a lot of variety could do better on the menu.

We enjoyed our stay here overall and the room was much bigger than expected — it felt more like a small apartment than a standard hotel room, which gave us plenty of space to relax. The breakfast each morning was very good, especially the freshly made omelettes. We also loved spotting monkeys in the trees around the property which made the setting feel really special and tropical. The location was excellent, with easy access to both Hiriketiya Beach and Dickwella Beach, so it was a great base for exploring the area. The staff were also very welcoming and helpful with our luggage, and we were greeted with fresh juice on arrival which was a lovely touch. Overall, a spacious and comfortable stay in a really good location.

A couple of small downsides — there was a power cut during our stay and the bathroom became extremely hot at times. The property is also located at the top of a hill, so it’s worth keeping in mind if you don’t like steep walks, although the views and quieter setting were definitely a benefit.
