Ice Age Cottage

The view is truly amazing. The location/ access is exactly as described. Facilities were clean.

There is direct access to the balcony which looks into the bedroom. Sometimes the host would appear on the balcony to speak in person - we would have preferred warning for this, or to communicate via message. I read another review that said the host was difficult about onwards travel and had an argument with a guest. In our experience, the host organised transport at the cheapest price quoted. What surprised us was that he insisted on accompanying us on our long onward travel with no warning or explanation - he literally appeared in our taxi. Nothing untoward happened but we initially felt a little threatened/ confused given we were travelling halfway across the country.

The balcony has privacy, making it enjoyable sitting there at night and day. The owner wanted to be helpful. It is his new business and he works hard to satisfy the customers. Although the entrance is not impressive, once one goes down to the room, it is all private and quiet. One can enjoy the sound of frogs, birds, breeze, and tree leaves.

Stunning view, great breakfast and easy access to town. The owner is super attentive and makes you feel comfortable. Super recommended out of the busy town.

The location is a bit far out from Ella (~2 km out) but since Ella is insanely busy and noisy, we eventually found this to be a good thing. Ended up staying longer!

This property is located a few kilometres out of Ella town, on the side of a hill with lovely views. It was always easy to pick up a tuk tuk to get to town or elsewhere. The room was spacious with a mosquito net over the bed. There was a pedestal fan which we only used at night for air flow, as the temperature was very mild. Breakfast, which was huge and delicious, was served on the verandah. There were also some chairs on the verandah so we spent some time chilling out, taking in the amazing view and watching the many different birds. The host met us on arrival and provided us with information. He organised a tuk tuk for an excursion. Each day, the host arrived in the morning to serve breakfast and then left, so you have the space to yourself. We had laundry done for a reasonable price. The property is walking distance to Ella Rock.

There are steep stairs to get from the road to the property. We estimated it’s similar to walking down/up 5 floors. The host carried our bags up and down for us. There is one good restaurant about 400 metres away, otherwise you need to go to town to eat. Easy to pick up a tuk tuk and lots of good food in town. Wouldn’t want to stay in town as noisy and crowded. Much better to stay in a peaceful place with beautiful views and commute.

Super nice view, clean and tidy, awesome breakfast! Also our ‚host‘ was really nice and helpful, we’d definitely recommend a stay there! He helped us carry our luggage since there a lot of stairs down to the cottage. It’s not exactly super central but you can always take a TukTuk to the city centre (our host organised it for us :)) and you’re there quick, but can also get back more into nature again for a relaxing stay after the city‘s rush!
