Stellina Village

Amazing location a few minutes walk from a really great sandy beach, there is a small surf school at the beach which is quite rare for a Greek Island. The hotel was incredibly well looked after and clean, the staff would clean the room multiple times a day and the communal areas were spotless. The staff were really friendly to us and seemed glad that we were there. Only 15 minutes on the bus into Chania town or you can walk along a coastal path. This suited us perfectly as we were close enough to travel in for evening meals, but the area where Stellina is is quiet and not overwhelmingly touristy.

It is a family-oriented hotel which is good if you have children, but we don't. There are three pools but all three were full of children most of the time, even though we went two months before the UK summer holidays (the children were part of families not from the UK.) It would be good if one pool was reserved for adults so that it was a bit more peaceful, but of course the beach is only a short walk away so there is a bit more space for tranquility there. My bed was slightly uncomfortable with a strange mattress-topper, in hindsight I could've removed it but apart from that the room was great. I think the shuttle to and from the airport could be organised better, if there are multiple people on the same flight it makes sense to organise a mini bus or similar, it was €70 return in the taxi.
