Casa de Vista Alta

The room itself is nice, the view is amazing. The girl who was working there is very helpful and kind.

I know everyone is so enthusiastic about this hotel and somehow I understand why. I booked 3 nights but only stayed 2 at the end. The first night I didn't feel anything but after the 2nd night my whole leg was full with bites from bedbugs! Since I first wanted to check if that's a bedbug I really searched the whole bed and found the bedbug! I told the girl this and she was helpfull. She did my laundry and cleaned the room and I could get another room. Even the upgrade. Once I came there (before accepting) that bed was even worse. All kind of stains in the sheets. Lots of black spots. Decided to take the room next to me but I didn't really check until the evening. I still saw many black spots and a shelf of the bedbug. They don't clean all the sheets everytime! I decided to leave and wanted the money back from the last night. The owner was very arrogant and said; i will give you the money back. But we are in the nature, so bedbugs are normal! He is not planning to take any actions against these animals. I would not even stay here for free.

We really enjoyed our stay at Casa de Vista Alta. It's a 10-15 minute drive from Mindo, the views from Casa de Vista Alta over the rainforest are just out of this world. We booked the Tangaras Room wich was really beautiful and cosy. Fernando gave us the opportunity to stay at the Lemon House for one night, which was really fantastic - we could even see toucans from the balcony there. We also did a full day Birdwatching Tour with Fernando, which was a great experience, we can definitely recommend you to do that. We had most of our meals there and every meal was really delicious, from the restaurant you have a amazing view of the cloud forest and can even watch hummingbirds - it doesn't get any better than that.

The facilities were clean, the surroundings were beautiful, the staff was friendly. Fernando, the owner, was very accommodating and helpful. He arranged all the transportation and guided our bird-watching trips.

It was far from town, which was both good and bad. But it was easy to get taxis.

No internet in the rooms.

The place has a perfect location, the view of the mountains, the nature with the comfort of the rooms and delicious food is something that is worth it. I stayed with my family from Switzerland and we were delighted. The staff was very friendly and the birds tour is a must. I recommend this place 100%.

breakfast and dinner were excellent. The staff was very nice and always asked us if we needed something more. Astonishing view from the cabin. Perfect place for birdwatching and full immersion into the cloud forest.
