Everything was superb We are vegetarian but Matthew was happy to do dinner for us It was outstanding and probably the best vegetarian meal we have had. So inventive and certainly a 5* rating. The house is stunning and situation overlooking loch Melfort is perfect. Scotland at its best Hopefully we will be able to plan a future trip

"luxurious stay in beautiful surroundings"

Another wonderful stay at Melfort House. Our room overlooking the loch was extremely comfortable with a super king size bed. Matthew is an excellent host who provided everything we requested including superb 4 course dinners each evening. breakfasts were excellent with a choice of fruits, cereal and yoghurts and a cooked breakfast was available with a varied choice of ingredients. This was our third stay at Melfort House and we will definitely be returning.

The property and view were lovely.

It was a little further out than we would have liked. Apart from getting a meal at a pub a few miles away the nearest town was a 30 minute drive. Perfect place if you want peace and solitude.

"One of the most exquisite experiences in Scotland!"

We stayed for just one night at Melfort House but I wish we could have stayed much longer. The house is ideally situated by a lake with the most amazing surroundings, walking lanes, sheep and the chirping birds. From the moment you step inside the house, Matthew is the most accomodating host, kind and welcoming. The room felt like a Jane Austen dream and breakfast was enjoyed in the intimacy of the living room together with the other guests, the presentation is exquisite! Next time I will make sure to book several nights!

WiFi is only working downstairs but to be honest...who needs wifi when Matthew, the surroundings and the other guests keep you company?
