Breakfast could have been better

Beautiful setting, eclectic furnishing. Bathroom lovely. Plenty of parking. Dinner beautifully cooked and very tasty.

Not being pre warned that dinner was a dinner party style for which we were not expecting. Our fellow diners however were good company but overall not what we would have wished to do and for which we were unprepared. This we were told was a fault of booking.com. The food was lovely and beautifully cooked.

The place is at a beautiful and peaceful village with wonderful view, the room was large, comfortable and decorated nicely, and the breakfast was excellent. There is a nice garden and lots of room for parking.

We liked everything very much, so this comment is really very minor: since we sit at breakfast as the same table with the other we would have preferred to sit facing each-other or at another edge of the table.

Shared breakfast table - would rather have sat at own table as the shared large table made conversation with my partner difficult and the constant conversation by others intrusive.

Location, facilities, and staff were superb. Rooms are very clean and spacious (with a taster of local whisky as bonus!). Staff was very helpful and welcoming, went over, and behoinds to assist. Good choice of pillows. Great night sleep as it is a very quiet location.

Just a personal choice, I would have preferred a more firm mamaterass, but as said, this is a personal preference.

Location and country house comfort. Good size of room and limited number of guests with communal dining area making it easy to strike up conversations.

Feel badly let down by booking.com who did not clarify this is a bed and breakfast and not an hotel. We arrived at lunchtime but had to return at 4pm as no entrance until then and it was raining and we had looked forward to lunch and relaxing in lounges. No bar area and earlier return in the evening to ensure access back. We had left early to arrive early after a 4 hour car journey and it spoiled the day having to hang around waiting. Poor description which would have altered my booking. Host clarified he had notified you of similar reactions in the past. Despite this he was charming and very helpful and a gracious host.

Everything - the house and location are wonderful. Great food and Mathew is a great host !

The wifi is intermittent- but that adds to the relaxation of the stay as you can digitally disconnect.
