For me, the remoteness of the guest house was a plus, that said there was a small store within a 5 minute drive. Facilties were excellent, and the rooms were airy and of a good size. There was a fully equipped kitchenette that met all our needs.

For some, the out of town location may be a drawback, but for me, not so much. You will need a vehicle.

The kitchen had everything you need, microwave, full oven and hob fridge and all the utensils you could possibly use. The room was very spacious with a dining area, large bathroom, recliner and sofa as well as a decent tv. The bed was extremely comfortable.

"Better than 4 Star hotels. Great place to stay"

The place is fantastic & very high standard, better than many 4 star hotels. Well equipped with everything you’d think and need. Richard was very accommodating and when I asked for kitchen towels (although there is a dishwasher) I got them immediately

It wasn’t clear (at least for me) that it doesn’t include breakfast. Lucky enough I figured that as the place is located in a remote area to stop in Kirkwall & buy food for my stay. It was a wise decision as there isn’t much around. Also, there is no sign to the place from the road and I got Richard email with the directions & indication on how to locate the place AFTER I arrived. Would be good to have a sign on the road

The studio flat was very comfortable, it had everything you needed and more. Robert was very welcoming. There were lots of little extras, just in case you forgot something.

The house does not have a sign on the road.

"Excellent accommodation."

Everything was perfect. Modern, spacious, clean apartment with fully fitted kitchen. Bed was comfortable. Washing machine and dryer to do our laundry. Only 10 mins from Scara Brae. Quiet location. 3 miles to nearby town for groceries and a good pub for dinner. Host is very nice but he left us on our own for most of the time, just checking once to see that all was well. I highly recommend this accommodation. 10 out of 10.

That we didn't stay longer!
