Very helpful staff that organised a tour to the local attractions such as volcanoes, waterfall and temple. Good restaurants within easy walking distance.

This place deserves a way better rating. Staff was super friendly and offered a great tour to the vulcano and afterwards transport to Lake Toba and stopping at the waterfall. Place is very decent, clean and comfortable place compared with the price you pay.

It was okay for the price and it is situated in a nice central place. Room is big and comfy.

I was checked in by a ten year old child and the bathroom smelled utterly strange. The sockets are inlogical and that is just annoying but seems something common on Sumatra.

Bathroom smelled and not too clean

It is a family run nice place with very friendly people. They helped us to carry our suitcases to our small room on first floor. They have a large common area where you can sit any time. They offer hikes up the volcano and other trips. Erwin took us on a day of sightseeing (hiking up the volcano, hot springs, local tribal people) which was absolutely amazing (but with "western" prices). I would recommend just for these trips to stay in the hotel.

Expect small room and bath as well as "old" mattresses for this small price.

The owner, Erwin, was very friendly and did his utmost to help when he could. He provided tours for us and negotiated too. He also was our guide for the sibayak sunrise tour. Laundry was provided at an extra charge. We slept comfortably and had a beautiful view from our room. Breakfast was good and next door we found a very nice restaurant for dinner (kuta-ta) .

We found a cockroach in the room. Also, the sink in the bathroom was leaking constantly. The bathroom was rather small and could have been cleaner. Needs some refurbishment however it is a comfortable stay.

Erwin was a great host (and guide!). We stayed 2 nights and did climb the Sibayak in the early morning. Small groups and a guide that really cares about the environment. Other excursions outside of the normal offering were easy to arrange and Erwin was very accommodating here. Room was good and hot water.

Would be great to have a bin on the room. :)
