Kharjap Homestay

Comfortable rooms, Local food, Supportive staff, Ambience. Comfy beds. Heritage village is good.

Location is a bit far from the main road. It takes 30min extra to reach there and 30mins extra to come back on the main road.

We had a lovely stay at Kharjap homestay in April 24. The hosts were extremely welcoming and gracious, and we really enjoyed meeting the whole family and getting to know more about the place, it's culture and the efforts to preserve the local traditions. Tashi and Lumu looked after us really well, with simple but amazing home cooked food, and we felt like we were staying at home away from home. The local village has a wonderful 17th century fort that is very interesting to explore and learn about - do ask the hosts for a guided walk around it if you do visit. There are also wonderful views of the mountains around the area, however we were unlucky with the cloud cover and could only get a small glimpse during our stay.

The location of the homestay is off the beaten track and does take a while to get there (approx 10km away from main Dirang town, so it takes about 30 mins to get there). However the hosts were very upfront about this before we made our booking, and we were prepared for the same. Need to factor this into your overall to/fro travel times.

Hospitality Ambiance

The location is remote, secluded and hence very quiet, peaceful. The Thembang Heritage village is very close to this property. The village has fort ruins, old houses built of wood and stones and it was a pleasure walking through this village. The owner Lumu is very pleasant, helpful. We found the food excellent.

Wifi is not available even though at the time of booking facilities section stated that "WiFi is available in all areas and is free of charge"

Property was clean and maintained Hosts were so Caring and kind 😇

Food was good, Room was comfortable, Host was very homely. Beautiful location away from the hustle 👌.

Bathroom amenities could have been better. A mirror 🪞 in Bathroom is must. SHOWER 🚿 was also missing. You have travel around 30-45 mins to reach the place
