It location of the homestay is offbeat. It is outside the historic village of Thembang. Home cooked food was amazing

Bathrooms were not good

I was very frankly excited about staying with this property since it had some great reviews and it is literally one of the only 2 homestay's in the Thembang village. But unfortunately, they cancelled my stay. The problem was that I only realised they had cancelled my stay after I reached the property at around 5pm (almost sunset). I called and spoke to the person managing the property but there was literally no one in the property and hence they couldn't make any accommodations for me. And they told me that they had cancelled my stay in the morning itself (I had booked it the night before) but they had messaged/informed me of the cancellation on booking.com chat. Now, I was on a solo bike ride and didn't check msgs on booking.com chat (and that is definitely my mistake), but the cancellation itself didn't pop up on SMS, email or as a notification. And since it was a non-refundable booking, I didn't think it would be cancelled. Now I understand, the management might need to cancel, but I do expect, properties like these, which have a reasonable off route travel time with bad roads involved (check for other reviews on roads and travel time of 3-40 mins off the main road) need to have the minimum courtesy and customer service that they call and inform the guest if they're cancelling the booking of their own accord, and not just msg on booking.com chat! This would have saved me a lot of time and inconvenience. I hold Booking.com also responsible for not sharing any cancellation msgs or emails to me. Infact, Booking.com has allowed me to write this review since they think I stayed at the property! I have used Booking.com around the world but this has never happened with me before. Lesson learnt. I am sure it is a great place to stay, but just make sure, you double confirm in advance by talking to them.
