The warm welcome—Ramesh was very caring and attentive. The location is perfect, and you have a beautiful view from the balcony.

Perfect tranquil place. Views were amazing. Comfortable. Perfect place to unwind and chill.

If you drive it’s windy roads

As a small family of 3, with our toddler Rock Grand View was the perfect location. A short walk out of Ella town centre down the rail tracks, the most amazing views to wake up to. Breakfast was so carefully prepared, with every detail considered. Rooms were clean, beds were comfy and the service was spot on.

Location was great, a 10 minute walk to town down the train tracks. Staff were great and the rooms were clean.

Check in took a bit longer than expected, even after arriving after 2pm.

Not much communication about the services. There was a menu but any food was available. You can only pay cash.To go to Ella center you can take tuktuk (700 rupees) or walk through the train racks for about 10 min.

I travelled to Ella with my wife for holiday. We found Grand Rock View to be a small, tranquil place with a great character. Our room with balcony offered us the views of the whole valley where the city of Ella is located, including the Ella Rock and the waterfalls. It was a pleasure to just sit there and watch the world go by in the evenings. The place was quiet, as it is located away from any main roads. However, the centre of Ella can be reached from there by a 5-minute walk on the nearby railway tracks (which is how people normally get around there). The host was great, helped us to orient ourselves for our hikes to the nearby hills and was bent to fulfil any of our wishes. He also recommended to us several interesting dining options in Ella. The breakfast at the resort was very good and enjoyable. We enjoyed our stay at Rock Grand View very much.

Overall good, no aircon but wasn’t too hot at night. Basic but as expected.

The staff did do their best to try and accommodate us (however they were not equipped to handle guests who were not satisfied). The breakfast was plentiful and good. The only reason this place is getting 4 points is the staff (who had to carry our luggage up and down the stairs and the slope) and breakfast.

The organization of the room requires work. There is no space left in the room with a third bed added to it. There is only one fan, which means that the third bed gets no air. No AC is the room, and neither can you keep the balcony door open for fear of insects. There was a lizard and mosquitoes in the room Coz the staff had kept the balcony doors open in the evening and we arrived quite late in the night. It was too late for us to go anywhere else and they didn't have more rooms available to give us a change of room. The location isn't great, you have to walk down a steep slope and cross a railway track to get there. It is not accessible by car (even though we were told that it is). Our car got a minor scratch (thankfully nothing major) in trying to navigate to this place's supposed parking. The manager of the hotel was quick to blame the driver and the car for their inability to navigate the slope. We've driven around Sri Lanka with this driver and car for close to 6 days via different routes and this is simply not True. The driver has an excellent command of his car. The staff had to come and fetch us from this supposed parking which is a point near another guesthouse. There are no streetlamps so the walk down this slope was extremely nerve-racking in the darkness even with the mobile's flashlights. If you're staying here, you can't really go out at night without a flashlight and are ready to cross the railway track and climb a steep slope. Also please remember that this place don't always serve dinner and the town has some really great restaurants, bars and cafes but they're quite a distance from this hotel. After all of these hassles late at night, we were woken up early in the morning due to extremely loud music and chanting. The manager was again quick to clarify that the music was not being played at the property and shift the blame to a temple in the vicinity and inform us that it is a common occurrence.

Back hurt in the morning - Very basic room - Water only given on first night - all other places we visited offered one bottle for each day of stay - Have to cross a train track to get there and it's dark and eerie in the night

Ramesh was AMAZING and hospitable. The property was beautiful and the whole experience was awesome.
