It would be better if it was more clean and comfortable

This is a great place to stay literally 5 minutes from the main Ghat. The rooms are clean and a good size, the beds really comfortable. Vishnu who runs the guesthouse is super helpful. He will arrange anything you need. I cannot recommend this place enough total value for money.

Nothing

The location is very central. From here you can reach very quickly the gaths for the morning celebrations. The owner is very helpful and can organise tour guides, who show you all around the city and not taking you to shop of friends where you are forced to buy something. Normally I avoid tours, but this one was worth it in order to understand more the religion and the culture. Our guide was Niwas who is a very positive and nice person. Rooms are basic but all in all clean. We had the possibility to try the owner's famous chai which is very delicious.

Unfortunately in the house there was a construction on the upper floors at the time when we were there, but it supposed to be ready in few days and then the place will have a nice view from the terrace above. It is a little hard to find the place as it is not on Google, but as another review said look for Dosa Caffe- on the main road you go until the tourist police. From there on your left you see a big generator. Take that small street below the generator. You go on that street until you need to turn to left. After few meters you find Dosa Caffe. From there you turn right and it is going to be the second small road on your right.

The owner is an excellent guy and very helpful. Great location. Unbeatable if you wanna stay in this area for cheap.

vishnu and his family are very hospitable people, we felt at home right away! we booked the non-AC room and got a free upgrade to the AC room. every day vishnu provided us with chai and bottles of cold mineral water, free of charge. he gave lots of useful info about varanasi and how to enjoy the city to its fullest, would definitely stay here again!

The host was so kind- he welcomed us with chai and provided unlimited free bottles of water during our whole stay. We booked the non ac room by accident but he upgraded us! The ac is very powerful! The location is perfect. It is right next to the main ghat but is on a quieter street. Very close to excellent food and any shopping you could want.

Host is very friendly and makes one comfortable. They even offered me food, free of cost and assisted me in visiting the places around. I was a solo traveler and felt very safe and comfortable

The guest house is in a perfect location, close to all the main points of interest. In literally less than 5 minutes you reach the main ceremonial ghat. Vishnu, the owner, is the most helpful host I've ever met. He really really cared about us having a good time, and was extremely helpful in organizing everything. Unfortunately we had already booked a boat tour with another company prior to booking at maa Durga Inn, but I highly recommend asking Vishnu as he can organise it all for you at a honest price and he also does walking tours. If I went back to Varanasi I would certainly go back to Vishnu's guest house. Highly recommended. Ps: Vishnu makes the best chai in town you can't miss it

Everything! I switched places because Maa Durga was closer to the river and I am SO glad I did!! Vishnu is a wonderful human being who goes above and beyond to help his guests. His entire family and circle of friends are always helping out and going out of their way for you. Vishnu can help with ANYTHING and I mean it!! Varanasi can be overwhelming but Vishnu makes you feel at home.
