The host couple are lovely and kind. We enjoyed our interactions with them! The breakfast was おいしかった and we were fortunate to have good weather and enjoyed our meal outside. The Mitake and Okutama area is gorgeous and Oyado Yaokyu is a great spot for exploring. We enjoyed falling asleep to the sound of the river. Their cat is cute too!

The hosts were amazing and super sweet (including the kitty 😺). Breakfast was to die for! Would highlight recommend!

Amazing location overlooking the river in a very stylish venue. The hosts were highly accommodating (giving us a map plus areas of interest) and provided an excellent Japanese-style breakfast in the morning for 1000 yen.

The location is easy to access from the local train station and a good base to explore Mt Mitake. The hosts are wonderful, a generous people and the Jaoanese breakfasts in the lovely dining room over looking the river was the perfect start to the day. It is a traditional room overlooking the river- the sound carries into the room. we expected this and was what we were looking for. The apartment is small and no real cooking facilities but has all you need for your stay. We couldn't find a convenient store in Mitake but there is one short train ride away. The owners gave us superb restaurant recommendations, including one just two doors down. My husband was unwell the last night and they were so genuinely concerned, wanting to help us in anyway they could.

The view, traditional Japanese-style decor, warm showers, conveniently situated in relation to the train station, hiking trail, restaurants, etc. The hosts are an adorable couple. They gave us such a warm welcome and farewell that we instantly wanted to come back again. They truly love what they are doing and it shows.

There are two self-contained rooms at the property. Though there is a fridge and microwave there is no crockery or cutlery supplied aside from some tea cups. This is not meant to be a criticism, just a helpful tip for future bookers. On one of the nights the neighbours could be heard through the thin walls. Thankfully the hosts had pre-warned us and we didn’t mind. Be aware, Google Maps will point you a bit further than the actual entrance of the accommodation, if you come across the post shown in one of the photos below, you’ll have to backtrack a few steps, walk down the narrow entrance passageway and knock on the hosts front door. Two narrow and steep flights of stairs might pose a challenge for some particularly with large and heavy suitcases.

A lovely and cosy place away from the crowd. A serene accommodation by the river. The host and wife are extremely friendly. Nice breakfast prepared by them.

The room is a bit small for a family of 4. No space to lay out all 4 tatami.
