FRI knew the bakery well after my many trips to Varanasi and was so looking forward to testing the rooms, but I was very disappointed. Of course the rooftop restaurant and the central location are good. The room itself was ok - just big enough for a bed, no storage space The bathroom was in need of some fixing - like replacing the wall fitting to hold the shower up. One or two members of staff were friendly.
I had the room on the rooftop and it is sooo noisy. The restaurant staff stand just outside the door to shout down to the groundfloor kitchen 4 or 5 floors below and customers come up and down chatting loudly. The other side of the room, just outside the window, a very noisy restaurant kitchen extractor fan worked late into the night. The most surprising thing was that the majority of the staff definitely didn't provide the warm welcome we are all accustomed to in India, not even the elderly gentleman at reception who should be setting an example for his staff. Many didn't even bother responding to Namaste.
USVery clean and comfortable, nicely decorated and staff were very kind, live classical Indian music was played on the very cute rooftop one night we were there and the restaurant/bakery was very good
Air conditioning was not included in our booking (which we didn’t know) so it wasn’t on when we arrived late at night and couldn’t be turned on until the manager came in the morning so our first night was very hot, bathroom is also very cramped so the shower water gets the toilet (and whole bathroom) very wet

ESUbicación y comodidad. La habitación estaba bien y limpia.
Poca privacidad entre la habitación y el baño, además es bastante pequeñito.
GBThe staff were lovely. Particularly the chap that picked me up from Sonapura Crossing when the Uber driver could go any further. The guy from the guest house was so helpful talking to the driver en route from the airport. And he he drove me and my bags on his moped through the narrow lanes to the Guest House. And the location is perfect for the ghats.
The main course meals I had weren’t good. But the breakfast was fine. The room could do with a bit of TLC but is great value.
ITIt was cheap and the location was good, staff friendly.
Everything else. It was filthy, old, in desperate need of renovation (even just a good coat of paint and a decent scrub). There mice running around the corridors, the bathroom smelt of sewage. The extractor fan doesn’t work in the bathroom. The bed was super uncomfortable, essentially a plank of wood. There were used products from the previous guests in the bathroom. Showing that it had clearly not been cleaned. The roof top was very dirty. Breakfast was expensive and not worth it. On the last day there was a poo in the dining area which no one cleaned and it got tracked throughout the building. Definitely wouldn’t go back, wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, not fit for purpose. The only reason we booked was because it was recommended on the Lonely Planet India guide but this was clearly based on knowledge from 20 years ago.
DEVery close to the ghats. Food expensive but good Window, rooftop terrace
Room too small
GBGreat location for the ghats and restaurant food was delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful.
ITOttima posizione , staff molto disponibile . Molto buono anche il servizio ristorazione : prima colazione all 'italiana dopo 10 giorni ... Inoltre soggiornando o mangiando si contribuisce ad aiutare un associazione di bambini e fare cosi' un viaggio 'sostenibile '...
