Seagreen Guesthouse - Galle Fort

Great location in a beautiful fort. Room was quite spacious with comfortable bed.

The young lady at the reception was missing customer service skills (would be rolling her eyes or acting bothered when I asked her 1) to replace the not working kettle adapter or 2) asked if they have single service coffee bag, which they did not have strangely). The school next door is super loud super early, no soundproofing in the hotel (but if you start day early: like 6in the morning then it’s not a problem :))

Beautifully located guesthouse close to the fort walls. Breakfast was amazing and the staff were lovely and kind, they gave us some herbal medicinal tea as we were a bit sick during our stay. The building is airy and bright, the room was very comfortable. Would highly recommend.

This was our first stay in Sri Lanka, straight from airport, very friendly staff, good English, lovely room , comfy bed, good bathroom. Roof bar . Great location for town . Good value.

Fabulous location, very clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay here (4 March 26), sunset cocktails at the roof top bar, bar snacks (garlic prawn toast!) also ended up having dinner here (grilled prawns, garlic butter, salad and wedges) breakfast AND lunch the next day. Yes, the food is great here and well priced. Staff are very helpful and friendly, the barman is fantastic and he makes a mean drink!

6.30am wake-up (very loud music from the school next door) was okay for us as we are still running on a different time zone!

Our party of three adults had rooms 1 and 2. Both rooms were clean with good temperature control. The very limited storage was a non-issue for our one-night stay. Bathroom was functional with a decent hot shower. The staff were very smiley. The roof-top bar is simple but a real plus, looking west over the ramparts with locals gathering on the grass to watch the sun go down. The hotel was more than adequate for our short stay.

The roof-top bar is very good but could be so much better. There is a service charge for drinks even though the service wasn't that attentive or proactive - we had to go back to the counter with empty glasses for every round even when the bar was quiet. The drinks go on a separate bill and have to paid for separately to the room bill which seemed a bit odd. The bar is great for sunset drinks around 6-6.30pm but completely shuts down at 9pm. All the seats and cushions are taken in so there's nowhere for guests to sit out in the evening - unless you use the single table outside room 1 and risk annoying the guests in room 1. Perhaps the early bar closure is to be a good neighbour noise-wise but we were disappointed to return from dinner in town on a balmy evening on our last night in Sri Lanka to find the lights out and no prospect of a night cap. Breakfast was very average. A service charge did not apply but at LKR2400 for fruit and LKR2500 for eggs it wasn't worth it imo. It had to be ordered the night before - again this seemed odd given the simplicity of the menu. The (white bread) toast didn't have the merest colouring to suggest it had ever gone near a grill or toaster, and it was served with some sort of luminous jelly rather than jam or marmalade. When I fed this back I just got a shrug of the shoulders. We were leaving at 0815 but were encouraged to pay the afternoon before, or at the latest that evening. We were initially told this is because the reception cashier staff work 0900-2100 but they were still there at 2200 and at 0700 when we went down to breakfast. The guest house would probably have got more business from us had they not continually asked us for early payment.

Lovely guesthouse in the heart of Galle Fort and walking distance to everything. The rooms are large, airy and very comfortable. There’s a beautiful rooftop bar where you can watch the sunset over the ramparts, plus another communal space on the first floor to sit and unwind. Breakfast isn’t included, but it’s abundant and delicious and well worth ordering. The hosts are warm and welcoming, making it a really easy and enjoyable place to stay.
