Traveller's Villa

Dhammi is extremely hospitable, speaks excellent English and is happy to share his local knowledge. The apartment is private but dhammi offers traditional home cooked meals. Dhammi also has a tuk tuk to take you places, I highly recommend gartmore falls.

Host was wonderful and helpful

Loved the view from the balcony, the hot water shower was the hottest with the highest pressure in all of Sri Lanka! The food that they cooked up was some of the best I've had in Sri Lanka, especially the mushroom curry.

Our host, Dhammika, was exceptional. He was so welcoming and incredibly helpful & knowledgeable about places to visit & how to get there. He organised a private tour for us to The Tea Fields, a superb experience where you not only see how tea is made in the factory but you walk around the beautiful plantation, meet the tea pluckers and get the fascinating history of tea in Sri Lanka (Rimas was passionate about the subject). Dhammika also organised a top-notch safari for us in Uda Walawe, our next destination (Chamara was another great guide). Food at Traveller’s Villa is DELICIOUS, some of the very best we had in all of Sri Lanka. Cooked by Dhammika’s ‘Auntie’, it is fresh and inventive and authentic, both breakfast and dinner. You feel so at home in their home. It’s a great place to stay if you want to climb Adam’s Peak and it’s outstanding value, too. We were so glad we chose Traveller’s Villa. It’s a hidden gem.

The only warning I would like to mention is that there are several outdoor flights of stairs. They are not a problem unless you have mobility issues as my wife has.

Everything was great, only the road is a little too close, but as there is not much traffic in the night it didn't disturb me at all and I had a great sleep. Will definitely come again!

I liked everything and I can only recommend this accommodation! The accommodation is located in the middle of the tea plantations and is ideal for a quiet break from the hectic cities to spend time in a non-touristy place surrounded by nature. The accommodation is easily accessible by bus (Hatton-Maskeliya) and you just have to tell the bus driver where to stop. When I arrived, Dhammika gave me a super friendly welcome and showed me my room. The room is large, super nice and has either a balcony or a terrace with a small garden. Everything was very clean. You are served incredibly delicious food at all times and can have tea or coffee whenever you want. Dhammika helps you with all your questions, gives you travel tips and takes you to the surrounding places with his tuktuk. He took me to Adam's Peak at 2.30 am and even drove me to Udawalawa. We made several stops along the way and he showed and explained lots of interesting things to me. I felt extremely comfortable and cared for when I was there and I will definitely come back to this wonderful place during my stay in Sri Lanka! Thank you Dhammika and your family!

Traveller’s Villa provides cosy accomodation for a reasonable price with welcoming and helpful owners. House is located in very quite location. There was possibility to have autentic and tasty Sri Lankan homemade food which was super tasty. Owner was always willing to help us and drive us wherever we needed. We felt really good at this place and would recommend it to enyone who likes peace and friendly atmosphere.

-blown away by the stunning, tranquil surroundings. -Balcony perfect for yoga and sitting with a cup of tea with tea plantations all around -well connected to Hatton by bus (70 rupees) and direct bus back from Adams peak/Sripada even in off season (we took rickshaw there middle of the night) -modern, purpose built room 50 yards from owner's home. Private. -delicious dinner and breakfast -hot water, very powerful shower, comfy mattress, AC not required. -this stay was a surprise highlight of our Sri Lanka trip. We stayed 3 nights, did Adams peak, went to Tea Castle by bus and then took the train onwards. If you want a peaceful, restful hideaway in your Sri Lanka trip, look no further.

Absolutely love this place. Nice and clean rooms, quite minimalistic but all facilities are great: hot water, electricity, fan, little garden. Location is also nice, we walked around the lake, visited view point near by and tea plantation. Moreover the owner of this place and his family were so kind , cooked delicious local food and recommended some places around the area with good English. Definitely will come back!
