The Captain's Lodge Room Only accommodation

The captains lodge was situated in a lovely quiet area of Whitby, within walking distance from the station, Whitby Abbey and the beach which I loved. I saw Rob on a few occasions who was very friendly and helpful.

There wasn't anything I didn't like.

- Location very close to the beach and restaurants/bars etc - Tea, coffee, biscuits, kettle and fridge provided with ample refills - Nice view of the church (From Room 8) - Handy booklet with local recommendations of places to go

- Not happy the accommodation has a separate parking fee and spaces are not as easy to find as previously told - Top floor far too warm in the hot weather, no air con and no fan - Beds are very soft (partner and I woke up with bad backs) - Mould in the fridge - Very outdated decor - Bathroom needs a major update and the shower pressure and temp controls are awful

The room was adequate for our stay so glad there was a fridge in it that was a bonus for us, good location bit up hill for our liking but fine, easy access with own keys etc.

Bit far out for us but that’s just our preference, I understand the reason for no takeaways in there but after night out and you want food shame you couldn’t take it back to the room,
