The Cattleya Guest House Sigiriya

We really enjoyed our stay in Sigiriya, Ashoka was so helpful and put a lot of care into helping us plan our trip. The room was very comfortable with all the necessary amenities.

This guesthouse is a real gem. Only two rooms, spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated, of generous size, set aback from the street, and with a terrace facing a lovely garden. Fridge (with Beers), Wine, Tea/Coffee set, Welcome fruit basket, A/C, TV with international news channels, Toiletries, all is there to make you feel at home. But what makes the big difference is the kindness of Ashoka and his team. We arranged through them train station pick-up, afternoon visit to Dambulla caves, and safari with transfer to next destination on departure. Both were arranged through his son Roshan with efficiency. The drivers were professional, vehicles were in good condition, and in the case of the safari, our guide Nilantha clearly knew his job.

The owner of the Cattleya, Ashoka, was very welcoming and helpful. I only booked my stay the night before and they managed to arrange a transfer from the airport to the guesthouse. During my stay, I got all the help from Ashoka with planning my activities. He always made sure I had good and reliable transport. He even brought me himself with his car to the starting point of the Lion rock walk, at 5 in the morning, perfect in time to make it to the top before sunrise. The breakfast was lovely, all local dishes. It was so nice to have breakfast in the beautiful garden, which is taken care of so wel.

Property surrounds were immaculately kept. The atmosphere was quiet and serene. The room was presented beautifully with tea/coffee facilities, fruit and biscuits, air conditioning, TV and an outlook over the garden. The traditional Sri Lankan breakfast on the terrace was exceptional as we watched the monkeys in the trees.

Over our two night stay there was nothing we did not like.

Very clean, well-equipped and comfortable cottages side by side set in a beautiful garden with cheeky monkeys hopping from tree to tree whilst you eat breakfast al fresco. It was worth paying more to stay at this place. Garden full of birds, squirrels, peacocks. Very relaxing and quiet and private. Spotlessly clean and air-conditioned. Bathroom products supplied, a small fridge and tea and coffee and water. Host couldn't do enough for us, gave helpful advice, drove us around for a low fee, and was attentive and kind. Breakfast was plentiful with fresh juice, fruits, hoppers and Dahl. Highly recommend. Also, for dinner, I can recommend Mom's Kitchen across the road for their Sri Lankan curry only 1100 rupees.

Ashoka the host was wonderful. Take his advice on times for hikes and safari! His suggestions made my time incredible! Also checked in on me to make sure I got to the next destination safely as I am a female solo traveller.

I love the whole experience

I can’t say enough good things about this property. It was immaculate, very modern, beautiful private porch that looked out the back garden which was very restful, listening to the birds and crickets. Lovely welcome drink and very thoughtful hosts always making sure you were comfortable, even putting out a citronella burner at night to keep the mosquitos away. The breakfast was outstanding, plentiful and delicious. The property is very close to the main attractions in the area. Wish I could have stayed longer .

The property has a beautiful little garden and nice amenities. However, easily the best aspect of our accommodation was our host Ashoka, who made sure our stay was as pleasant as possible at every turn. 5/5 property 6/5 host

If you don’t like animals around (monkeys etc) you might be a bit nervous here

Delightful place. Quiet yet very convenient location. Host Ashoka & his son Roshan were very attentive & made every effort to make our stay very pleasant & comfortable. Breakfast was delicious!. Enjoyed our stay very much, thank you!
