IbisHouse Farm Stay

We visited purely for birding, in January.This is a decent stay, the rooms are on the first and second floors of a family home - the large family (parents and 4 sons and their families) lives on the ground and part of the 1st floor. We stayed in the suite, which is quite comfortable, once one gets over the lurid decor. The food is the high spot - simple, home cooked and delicious. Ask for the bajra rotis and local greens - bathua, sarson (mustard); fresh winter carrot and peas and the smoky, garlic flavoured bhaingan bharta. We chose this place because I have dietary restrictions; which are hard to manage in a standardised hotel like the well known Birder's Inn- and that they took care of well. Also, since the father - Ratan Singh - has been a career birding guide, he or one of the sons can take you birding to out of the park areas - though watch for the strong upsell. We had a nice day out with Mr Ratan Singh.

The rooms are on the 1st and 2nd floors, so not for those with mobility issues. Surrounding cleanliness - waste water from the bathrooms etc is let out directly; the oblique but constant sales pitches. The 3 km auto ride to the park costs Rs 150 - Rs. 50 per km. The breakfast is basic - toast, eggs and bananas. Housekeeping is indifferent. If you go birding with Mr Ratan Singh or his sons, please ensure ethical birding - no playback of bird calls, no spotlights at night.

Everything, the food, the ambiance of the place, their staff's cordial nature. This is the best stay you can opt for if you're in Bharatpur, especially for the purpose of visiting the bird sanctuary, which is just 4 min drive away.

Fantastic location.. In the midst of mustard fields and in the folds of nature. Plenty of birds to be seen in and around the property (including the 5am rooster call) you only need to 'awaken' your sense of adventure. Amazing staff with Chandar at the helm of affairs and with terrific cooking skills! The kids couldn't get enough of his delectable food..I HAD TO call it off! Don't miss the chance to opt for a full picnic lunch delivered to the sanctuary with every detail taken care of. Beautiful views of the surrounds from the terrace. 10 minutes to the sanctuary by car. I had to watch my food consumption! But that's on me..

Everything was perfect. The owner, all staff, facilities, behaviour. All touched the heart.

Nothing to dislike or to complain about. If we visit Bharatpur we must stay at this property.
