Silent River Cottage

Die Gastgeberfamilie war ausgesprochen herzlich, und die Anlage liebevoll und mit viel Sinn fürs Detail gestaltet. Besonders genossen haben wir das Abendessen in der Weranda – ein echtes Highlight. Auch die empfohlene Safari war ein voller Erfolg und rundum gelungen. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!

We absolutely LOVED our stay at Silent River Cottage. It was so peaceful and the room exceeded our expectations - it was beautiful. The grounds are really well kept and very tidy. Lots of hammocks everywhere to relax. You can have direct access down to the river which is secluded and you can see the monkeys playing in the trees. The family who run the cottage are kind, caring and amazing people. We really enjoyed getting to know them and they always go the extra mile to make you feel welcome and comfortable. One evening we learnt how to play carrom with all the family and it was very fun! They work so hard and deserve every success in their business. It feels like a home away from home ☺️🙏 They also offer a fantastic safari which they can arrange for you. Not to mention the FOOD! WOW Nadika is a very very good cook. Her food was amazing. I highly recommend eating at the onsite restaurant as it was the most delicious food we had in Sri Lanka. Thank you for hosting us . We will definitely be back 😊

A Hidden Gem by the River – Unforgettable Stay! Our stay at Silent River Cottage was nothing short of magical. Nestled in a breathtaking garden with direct access to the river, this homestay offers a true escape into nature. The serene atmosphere, surrounded by lush greenery and the soothing sounds of the river, made it the perfect place to relax after an exciting safari. What truly sets this place apart is the warm and welcoming family who runs it. They took care of us with such kindness and hospitality, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Every day, they prepared fresh and absolutely delicious breakfast and dinner, full of authentic flavors and love. On top of that, they organized an incredible safari for us, ensuring we had the best possible experience exploring Udawalawe National Park. Thanks to their connections and local knowledge, we got to see an amazing variety of wildlife up close. If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat with outstanding hospitality, homemade food, and an authentic Sri Lankan experience, Silent River Cottage is the perfect choice. We can’t recommend it highly enough and will definitely return!

This had to be one of our favourite stays in Sri Lanka! The location is in a quiet area right on the river, perfect for relaxing but not too far away from the main town. While cooling off in the river you can enjoy the monkeys playing in the trees. The rooms were well maintained and the bed was very comfortable. The thing we will remember the most about this place is the family that runs the hotel. I have never experienced such amazing hospitality. They were incredibly kind and generous. The traditional meals they prepared were outstanding and very flavourful ! They were able to arrange a wonderful safari for us and provided us with transportation to the elephant transit centre. I cannot recommend this place enough and wish we were able to stay longer!

Food was fantastic, especially the dinner. The hosts went out of their way to help, set up transfers, organize a safari and even help us get back an item we left behind. They could not have been more friendly.

Super nice owners, good food and an amazing safari. The rooms were very nice and the air conditioning was working perfectly. Nice river to swim - can recommend!

A nice, new, quite and clean place surrounded by a beautiful garden. It was the best-equipped room we had in Sri Lanka. Amil and his wife are hard working and good people . They do their best and succeed in making you fell welcome and at ease. The breakfast and the other meals were good and plentiful. They organized our transfer from Sigirya with a professional driver and very nice person( Priyante). If we come back to Udawalawe we would choose again this lovely place.
