Silent River Cottage

Friendly couple welcomed us with a delicious welcome drink. We felt at home right away. The room had a mosquito net and quiet AC. We had to leave early and they were so kind to provide breakfast packages. It was great. We wish we could have stayed longer.

Thank you so so much! Your kindness, your food, your beautiful accomadation, the safari and your help with our mechanical problems with our tuk tuk. In one word, fantastic. A home from home.

Beautiful setting and Amila and his family were so kind and helpful. Food was delicious and very generous. They organized Safari for us with a picnic and good driver to pick us up and for safari. Would highly recommend!

This property is run by a beautiful family who made our stay so enjoyable and easy! We only stayed one night but wish we had longer to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. They organised the safari for us which was incredible. They made us an amazing dinner and made sure we were able to get to our next accommodation. The rooms were clean and the AC was great.

Lovely room, comfortable bed, exceptionally clean, aircon, coffee and tea and a nice place to sit outside. Breakfasts and dinners were plentiful and tasty. Our hosts organised a Safari for us with Sabash, a highly knowledgable guide. We were out for seven hours, giving us time to visit quieter parts of the park. They also organised Priyantha to drive us from our previous stay in Hatton. Six hours of small roads across the mountains. It could have been a trial but instead turned out to be one of the highlights of our holiday. Gentle and engaging person, we talked and laughed and stopped at little know places along the way. Silent River has just two cottages, we were the only people staying - it was quiet. Perfect for a couple of days. The river swimming was exciting and refreshing - a great location a few steps from our cottage. Be thoughtful that there is a fair current after the rains. A big thank you to Amila and her lovely family who looked after us.

The family are all wonderful & friendly and it’s so evident how important it is to them that your stay is as good as it could possibly be. The food was plentiful and probably the best we had eaten in Sri Lanka at that point. The host Amilia, arranged our safari for us. The whole family came out at 5am to send us off with plenty of cold water and breakfast, their kids came too, which was lovely!

Everything was lovely. Perhaps the only thing was Amilias over attentiveness, which was sometimes a little too much. He needn’t worry, his home stay is a straight ten!

The place is run by Amila and his wife. They’re lovely family that will make you feel welcomed and help organizing whatever you may need. Room was clean and dry, it had well working air condition, fridge and hair dryer! Bathrooms were nice and clean too. Good WiFi connection. We bought safari organized by them. It was a bit more expensive to what you can find on the internet but definitely worth it. It included all entrance and car fees + breakfast and lunch. The driver was very nice, not rushing anywhere. And it lasted over 6 hours (in comparison to regular 4h ones). We definitely recommend.

The owner of the accommodation and his wife were very friendly. They were very interested in whether we had everything and whether we were satisfied. We got an excellent dinner and breakfast. The room was clean and nice. I definitely recommend for a stay. The place is quiet and surrounded by a garden. The owner took us to the bus. The owner cares a lot about the rating and really tries to make the guests happy.
