Silent River Cottage

The rooms were clean and modern, the property had a fridge and air conditioning that worked well, as well as a great shower. There was a river for swimming which was very peaceful and refreshing. Most of all the hosts were extremely welcoming, great at cooking and very nice. There was also secure parking for our hire vehicle.

I had a wonderful stay at Silent River Cottage Hotel. The host was incredibly welcoming and made me feel right at home. The cottage was impeccably clean, and the peaceful surroundings made it the perfect getaway. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a relaxing and comfortable stay.

We were so lucky that this place was recommended to us! A beautiful Lodge-Like Oasis in Udalawawe with a huge garden and right next to a calm river. The rooms were very spacious and with AC. The best part of it were the hosts, the whole family made us feel so welcome from the start, organised an amazing safari and their meals… wow! They definitely made sure that we can try all different kind of Sri Lankan dishes! We would come here again any time and recommend everyone to do so 😊

Wonderful and rich traditional Sri Lankan Breakfast! The river (swimmable) is maybe 20 metres away. Extraordinary friendly family taking care of their guests in all matters. Great traditional rice and curry buffet as well! Rooms look brandnew.

This place is a breath of fresh air. Amila and his family are so kind and generous, I felt immediately at home. Both the safari they organised for me and swimming in the river were truly magical.

We had a wonderfull stay here for 2 days. The family is very warm and welcoming and takes really good care of you. Amila's wife is a great cook, we loved all the meals we had! One of our children needs to eat glutenfree and she made sure she could eat safely and very tastefully. Amila taught us how to play carrom, a fun boardgame.The river at the end of the garden where you can swim, looks like a scene in Junglebook with vivid coloured birds flying by, and monkeys swinging through the trees above you! Places like the elephant transit home, safaritours and ancient temple are really close. We would defintely recommand this homestay!

We had a wonderful stay! The family were lovely & helpful, the place is so pretty & the beds were really comfortable! They organised a safari for us which we really enjoyed & the food there was amazing! Would absolutely recommend staying here :) Thanks so much!
