Mi Casa - The gem of Ijen

Beautiful property with amazing owners. Its clear to see how much love and genuine care they have for their clients. I was feeling sick and instead of telling me to call a taxi , they took me personally to the pharmacy in their own car.

We spent the most wonderful time at Ericka's and Marc's place! The place itself is so beautiful - it felt just like paradise and we would have loved to stay longer. We highly recommend not only staying one night for Ijen but also enjoying the wonderful place itself and the nice surroundings :) Except for the nice property, the amazing staff, the love for details in the private bedrooms, the lovely animals all over the property and the great food from Rico, what really blew our minds was just spending time with Marc and Ericka, they made this stay truly unique! Thank you so much for letting us stay at your wonderful house - we hope to see you again one day :)

The Ijen tour was very well organized and Ericka is a very friendly and helpful host. Lunch and diner was very good. The room and surroundings are very beautiful and taken care of.

There were little options for breakfast

This place is so special! Surrounded by jungle and wildlife. Beautiful CLEAN (no trash) stream on the property, and if you are lucky, the owners will have a rescue otter in their care that you can visit. The structures are wooden joglo type buildings, so open air and more rustic. BUT - Erica does an AMAZING job of keeping it all so clean. I don't know how she does it (we live in Indonesia and know how hard it is to keep things clean). Just little things like the light fixtures and fans being spider and bug free. This is a treat for a place in the middle of a jungle! But - westerners be aware - you will be STAYIN IN A JUNGLE - there WILL be wildlife and small lizards. So you may come across a few ants in your kitchen or a tiny piece of lizard poo somewhere. BUT - you are IN THE JUNGLE - please do not complain. This couple works SO Hard to make this place clean and enjoyable, and one of the wonderful thinks about it is that it is in nature, and the natural habitat keeps it all healthy. So - if you want a sterile environment, go to a traditional cement hotel. But if you want a restful place to stay after hiking Ijen, or you want to enjoy nature and take a break from the city, wow, this place is so special. If we didn't live 7 hours away, we would make this place an annual destination. Thank you Mark and Erica for your care and attention.
