Lord Fraser Guest House

The breakfast was excellent. The historical charm and character of the guest house is very interesting and appealing.

There was a municipal power failure for almost the entire duration of my stay, therefore also no water pressure in the bathroom. Candles and matches were provided, but maybe the establishment should consider investing in back-up power generation.

Location easy to find with good parking. Interesting and characterful.

Paid extra for breakfast which was fine but nothing special.

The outdoor garden

I was not assisted with urgency, and load shedding happened and the staff never came to check up on me or give me candles or anything.

The room had decent heating and catered for all our requirements. The pub was cosy and served really great food. The owner introduced himself to us in the pub in the evening, told us a story about the oxen on the wall, and was very personable.

It’s a run down town and the establishment had very little to offer other than the pub and a comfortable, but old-fashioned room. But it’s no doubt the best (maybe only?) place to stay in Wepener.

The rustic atmosphere and history were lovely. Loved the fire place in the bar where we had dinner.
