Mary Green Walk

When I initially arrived, I couldn’t obviously tell that the property was a booking.com site as there was nothing to indicate that it was. Furthermore, I was told that someone would bring me the keys, and although they did, I found it a bit strange that they apparently had multiple other properties in the area, as if they were running the properties like a family business, rather than something more professional. The room was horrendously hot, one window didn’t open which meant I had to keep the fan on while I was awake but switch it off when I needed to sleep because of the noise. The room had not been made up properly, as there was a spare mattress which had just been left on one side of the bed. There was used rubbish left on the floor. The shower in the bathroom on the first morning only gave out cold water, and after that it did not work at all. Below the only window in room which opened was a smoking area which meant that cigarette smoke came directly into my room which meant that it stank until I asked the person smoking to stop (the smoking policy needs to be changed and clarified!) The afternoon before I checked out, another guest was being shown their room and mentioned that it was also horrendously hot, and the member of staff jokingly said that they could cook a pizza in the heat! I will never stay there again, and will be insisting that I get some money refunded to me! I would discourage anyone from staying there!

We booked here last minute because we arrived at our destination to find our hotel had been closed down. As it was a bank holiday, places were limited. We arrived at Mary Green and were greeted by our host. There were a couple of issues that our host fixed immediately and provided us with a fan because it was very hot. This is budget accommodation, with shared bathroom. It was very clean and comfortable. It was a bit further out of town than we initially planned, but only a 25 minute walk.

To be fair it was budget accommodation but it exceeded our expectations.
