A lovely charming old guest house in the heart of the town, just 150 yards from the harbour side. The owner/host is lovely. The room was spotlessly clean and modern with a very comfortable bed and ensuite with bath/shower. Tea making facilities in the room. Good TV provided, but some difficulty with BBC reception when I stayed.

It's expensive, especially for a single person (but I was in a double room - my problem!) Admittedly it was May Day, but having checked, prices are similar here whatever the date in spring/summer. There is a room where guests can have breakfast, but breakfast is not provided, which is a shame, otherwise I would have given this property a superb rating (not excellent though because of the price). To be fair, this is made clear when booking a room, but although it's not a bed and breakfast place I think it would greatly improve things if a breakfast were provided in the breakfast room. I understand that the owner does not wish to cook a breakfast, which is fair enough, but I would think it very easy (and very inexpensive) to provide a self service breakfast, of cereals, juice, bread, butter, marmalade and tea/coffee (with a toaster provided to make toast), such as is done in hostels. That would have made a difference for me, instead of having to go and eat in a restaurant/cafe.

The property was close to the beaches and yet quietly tucked away from the busy foot traffic and noise. I beautiful old character filled place to stay.
