Bella Vista Mauritius

The view from our room was exceptional. Breathtaking. Directly looking onto the bay. We could watch the catamarans come and go and relax on the chairs in the balcony and watch the sunset. There was a choice at breakfast of eggs. I had a tasty omelette cooked as I like it. The view at breakfast was into the bay and very lovely. As well as omelette, i had yoghurts croissants, toast jam and cheese so plenty to eat. My husband who is vegan had a more Limited choice and had bananas and toast. The manageress was very helpful and welcoming. Our bed had lovely crisp white sheets and we had big white towels too. We had space in the room. A kettle was provided with vanilla tea and we had a fridge. We were very satisfied and loved our stay.

The furniture was a little old and tired as was the shower however at the price we paid , this was OK.

Great location and room, beautiful view from the room over the ocean. Good breakfast. Nice stuff.

Lack of communication

When I arrived at the hotel nothing was explained to me about facilities, breakfast times etc. A lady was there flagging my invoice and making sign to pay, she did not smile, nor spoke English but standing there ( I was trying with my basic French but no much interaction). I returned when the manager was there, she was rude and she over charged for my stay expressly saying that they apply a higher conversion rate at the hotel. Wifi in the room did not work most of the times, I had to ask them several times to look into this, no apologies made. Breakfast was basic, staff seems like not bothered, no word said just food laid on table. But I noticed other local guests where treated in a different manner. Hotel was run down, atmosphere was weird, you'd come back there at 8.30pm and it was already deserted. the only good thing was the view from the balcony overlooking the bay. Overall I felt unwelcome there and I was looking forward to leaving this place.

Leak in our bathroom, flooring flooded. They told us they would repair it, but no one came to do this. They said we could change rooms, a day after we complained about the leak and we were leaving the next day. Point being they had bad communication about this as multiple staff members thought we had changed rooms and would come into our room thinking we had changed. There was a power cut which they didnt let us know about. The sheets werent clean and there was a lot of dust. The smell of cigarettes lingered in the rooms. The bed frames screwed off, very outdated funiture. Mucky looking style.
