Alpine Lakeside Studio

View was amazing. And location was in between airport and town. We loved the location.

For 9 nights the very small bench space and lack of storage for food was difficult for meals etc.we made do, But that's all everything else was very good.

Lakeside certainly, but Alpine hardly well describes this studio, one of a complex of 34 double apartments squeezed between the main highway into Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu. We rented 34b, which has a lovely view through triple windows right across the lake, with a terrace, table and two chairs outside. The other part, 34a, has a strange arrangement with stairs to a living area below and above 34b, ie three floors missing the middle one. Presumably other apartments are similar. Our studio comprised a fair-sized lounge cum bedroom with a large comfortable bed and a good spacious bathroom with heater.

The tiny kitchenette included a fridge and micro-wave but the worktop alongside the sink had room enough only for a kettle and toaster, and would be entirely unsuitable for food preparation. Other terraces were being power-blasted during our two-night stay, with a loud generator going constantly below our ours. It rained heavily during this time, so we stayed inside, and the disturbance would have been even greater if it had been sunny and we had sat outside. The only information provided was practical do’s and don’ts about the studio. There was no local tourist information, and bizarrely, a folder of menus related exclusively to restaurants in a town two hours’ drive away.

Beautiful scenery and peaceful position from the city centre. Cosy bed.

Having to dispose of our bags of rubbish that we had tied up neatly. We appreciated the kind offer of a staff member to dispose of it for us (even though we hadn’t complained- honestly!).

Lovely lakeside position, very well furnished and decorated. Comfortable bed and great bathroom.

The Kitchen area was way too small and the cupboards above the sink way too high. could also benefit from a towel rail in kitchen and extra towel rails in the bathroom.

Good for a short stay, was comfortable and decently equipped room.

Slept with the window open and there’s a decent amount of noise from those walking on the lake trail at night and planes coming through. Also would be good to provide detailed instructions on where exactly the apartment is, since there are several other apartments in the area.

some of the amenities may be a little outdated (the tv and dvd player could be replaced with a cheap smart tv)
