Guesthouse SHIGI

Het was echt een traditioneel Japans huis. Heel erg leuk. We hadden het hele huis voor onszelf voor een nacht. Het was schoon en van alle gemakken voorzien. Assi was heel aardig en bracht ons naar het begin van onze trail Magome.

Nous avons passé un séjour exceptionnel dans cette magnifique maison traditionnelle japonaise. L’endroit est spacieux, authentique et plein de charme, avec plusieurs petits salons, un jardin japonais et une vue splendide sur les montagnes. La lumière du matin dans le salon était magique. Les futons étaient de loin les plus confortables de notre voyage. Nous avons adoré les petits détails comme les livres et les vinyles, qui créent une atmosphère apaisante et unique. L’hôte, Assi, a été d’une grande gentillesse. Il parle un anglais parfait, nous a accueillis sur place, fait visiter la maison, et donné d’excellentes recommandations de restaurants. Communication impeccable. Emplacement idéal pour la randonnée entre Tsumago et Magome.

Notre seul regret : n’avoir réservé qu’une seule nuit ! Les photos de l'annonce sont belles mais ne rendent même pas justice à la beauté du lieu — si nous avions su, nous serions restés plusieurs jours.

Parfait

Wonderful, spacious, traditional old Japanese house complete with a lovely small garden. The house is very well equipped for self-catering, but is also close to restaurants and not far from a small supermarket. The host has also included personal touches so that you feel you are staying in a home - not just a rental. Very convenient parking space by the door. The house is in a town off the tourist trail but just a few minutes drive from Magome and the Kuso Valley.

A beautifully renovated 120 years old Japanese house! It was so much bigger than what we anticipated, and the owner was very nice.

This guesthouse is unreal - it looks like a film set! It was clean, comfortable, and surrounded by lovely residents. The morning and afternoon light in the guesthouse was incredible, and it was a great place to rest and enjoy the countryside. We are also very grateful to Assi, who was an excellent host. He helped us with our questions and gave us great recommendations for food and activities. I do recommend to rent a car if you are staying here for easy access to surrounding wards. If you have the opportunity, don’t hesitate to stay here. It will be a highlight of your trip!
