Hotel Mumon

Incredibly warm and friendly staff, we felt so welcome and comfortable the entire stay. Was great having a large lounge downstairs with a bar and food available so we could gather there together with friends who were staying at nearby lodging. It’s a short walk to all the activity/restaurants on the main drag, and to the ski lift/ticket office. Facilities are older but very clean and we never lacked for anything. We appreciated the fresh hot tea and treats each afternoon in the room, and great breakfast/coffee each morning. Shinja, Kenji, Hitomi and their families were so sweet and incredibly helpful with everything to make sure we had an enjoyable visit. We are planning to stay at Hotel Mumon again on any future visits to the area!

A little old , some call it charm

The breakfast was good, fruit and eggs and bread and meat. The location was also very convenient, we could walk into town or the ski lift. The owners were pleasant and there was a good laundry service, at a very reasonable cost.

The decor is a bit old fashioned.

The decor is dated but that for me was all pet of the great charme of this hotel. The view from the admitted small Onsen is a nice touch and the breakfast was very nice Japan style Western breakfast. That is generally true of the hotel. The combination of air heater for warming the room quickly and heat blanket to warm just the bed without drying out the air is a clever idea.

It is down a slight slope from the main area of the town, but still only about 5 minutes by foot from ski rental and lift
