Interesting family-owned hotel with onsen. Friendly staff and nice breakfasts.

For about the same price our friends stayed at a nearby hotel with larger and more modern rooms, more facilities, free breakfast and transfers to and from the station.

Nice comfy place to stay near the lifts

Only there one night but impressed by food, friendly family hosts, hot Onsen and large room (ours with ensuite). Will return with a larger crew in future to enjoy the bar area apres ski.

This was my second time staying at hotel mumon. This place had great vibes and is comfortable. The owners and employees are so kind and accommodating. Great atmosphere and just far enough from town for no noise and close to the lifts and restaurants that you can just walk everywhere. I hope to stay here for a 3rd time one day.

The hotel rooms are quite outdated, they have carpets and cotton pads everywhere for the warmth. That means that even if they clean them often, the people with dust allergy can't really breathe there. I had to leave one day earlier because I couldn't sleep, I had problem breathing. The room is also pretty cold. The beds are very hard.

Breakfast was great and staff were very friendly and helpful

Staff treated us like family and were always very accommodating and so willing to try to help us despite the language barrier. (google translate works great though) Kenji, Sinja and Hitomi were so friendly and welcoming. They have a great bar/cozy living room area with board games and a tv where we could hangout entertain friends staying at other nearby places. They offer a limited menu for dinner and a well stocked bar and keep a running tally as you order throughout your stay, they also have a self service honor fridge and snacks available and a cute little gift shop as well. We even played some board games with some of the staff in the evenings giving it a very homey feel. The room was a decent size and had 2 twins and a futon which was perfect for our family of 3. There's a kerosene space heater in the room as well as heating pads to get your bed toasty before turning in or to help ward off the chill in the evening. The ski/luggage storage and drying room had ample storage for all our gear. The communal onsen was a nice amenity.

The breakfast was just okay. They mixed it up each day but was typically a wet scrambled egg serving that seems to be the Japanese style as we were served that at other places we stayed. Restaurants in the area are small and you will need a reservation.
